This is my latest finished model, representing a recently delivered Texan of the RNZAF.

The Ibex kit came with two vac-form canopies but after cuting the first I found the framelines didn't follow the cockpit opening very closely so the second one was cut back literally millimetre by millimetre.

The Kiwi T-6s have a different aerial set up to the base kit and what I take to be a navigation bulge under the fuselage which I reproduced from a piece of spare sprue whittled to shape.

The decals are from Caracal and are excellent being both tough and thin and the white is strong enough not to allow any black to bleed through. The decal instructions omit to mention or depicted the dark grey walkway at the wing roots and suggest the same dark blue as the Canadian machine for the main colour. It isn't it is All Black black! None of which detracts from the quality of the decals.

As you can probably see it is also an unrepentant tail sitter. I crammed as much spare metal into the nose cavity including a cut down tyre balance weight but to no avail so a thin piece of brass wire is holdiing it on its nose wheel.

Thanks for looking.

I'm not really a big fan of the Texan II……It looks far more 'awkward' than the Shorts Tucano but I must admit I do like the RNZAF color scheme with those fuselage roundels/flashes.
