Caution Wake Turbulence
Yup. Good to see some more British bikes, re-issues or not. I thought so, anyway.
Fastcat
Well it does say "with major component upgrade" but no details of what that comprises. It's the ancient Protar kit - not up to contemporary standards of moulding when it first came out. But it can be built into an impressive model and it's basically accurate. Front forks are too fat - done to accommodate springs so that you could play with it until the headstock split and the forks fell off. Engine is under-detailed for such a big model - crankcase and cylinder barrel fins are way too shallow. What it really needs is a new resin engine with etched fins and new rims with proper spokes - a small Japanese company did an all metal replacement engine and some cast and polished rims for it. First batch sold out almost immediately and the engines weren't cheap! Around £100 if I remember correctly. Someone in the UK was going to do some etched fins but I don't think anything ever materialised - sadly.
