adt70hk
All I know this is almost certainly a daft question but is there an 'official' colour British socks should be painted? Specifically NWE 44-45. Or is it another case of them using whatever the British army was supplied with at the time or were sent from home e.g. by family? Thanks as always. JimF
Andrew, you state specificaly NWE '44 - '45. Weren't all UK troops in full battledress at that time, and place? Not sure the uniform with shorts is correct. I'm no expert, trust me, just what I have foud out so far, while looking at modelling a few UK Recce vehicles. adt70hk
Jim Thanks for taking the time to respond and yes you're almost certainly right. Unfortunately the Italeri kit only comes with figures in shorts e.g. for north Africa or Med. and I'll be using the kits for the small scale battles I have with my young son, which are NW Europe based (if not specific recreations of actual battles). Given his age and my very limited budget, historical accuracy is not paramount, so for the time being I'll make do with what I have but have to pretend it's a very hot day!! I thought though that I should at least try and get the socks the right colour. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. KRs Andrew

adt70hk
It's simple enough to extend the trousers with some Milliput. Andy That's why I'm on forums like this!! The idea of Milliput never even occurred to me!!! That said I've just finished painting them....... :banghead: But I guess there's nothing to stop me revisting them at some point in the future. Thanks as always!! Andrew
