Dads203
Cheers Guys, Still working on it Foxy, just slowly mate So I made the safety rail ( interrupter )that stops the commander shooting off the IR searchlight with the .50 This was a whole heap of fun to solder up and make, this was the easy bit as I have to make the base for it now. The kit part, not bad but not right. This is just the upper part. Also Added the smoke grenade stowage boxes to the turret sides. And one of front mud guards More later folks Dan
Dads203
Lower bracket added, just the ironwork to hold the guard needs adding. And the gunners telescope sight , just to left of the main gun. Cheers Dan

Dads203
Keep going...Im hooked! Cheers fella So I've decided to model a M60 on exercise, this means the Hoffmann device fitting to the fume extractor, A M85 BFA Barrel on the commanders cupola and a few other temp mods. I've bodged the BFA Barrel for the .50 cal using the Browning .50 that comes with the Academy M113, you get two guns, one with a BFA and one without. The support rods are the .3 black carbon antennas from Accurate Armour and the barrel was modified to fit the kit perforated barrel cooling jacket. The black carbon rods need trimming yet but once the glue has dried. Fender supports are being done and soldered when I can. And the headlights have been detailed up and fitted. Ascoteer
Now that's looking very nice. That short main gun barrel, is that for the Shillelagh ATGW?
Dads203
Now that's looking very nice. That short main gun barrel, is that for the Shillelagh ATGW? Thanks Debs, The M60A2 starship was the tank that used the Shillelagh launcher, saw very limited service and didn't really go into full production. I've left the end of the 105mm barrel off so my build does look like a A2, its just to aid adding the Hoffman device and other small bits. PlaStix
Hi Dan. I need to ask you a question - are you quite sure this is a 1/35 kit? I'm pretty sure, looking at the detailing you are doing, that it's probably 1/16 or bigger. There must have been a mix up when the kit was packed in the box. Phenomenal modelling. I'm attempting my first proper 1/35 kit, as you know, over in the Vietnam GB section and I couldn't even contemplate being able to add some of the stuff you are doing. Brilliant!! Kind regards, Stix
Dads203
Cheers Stix, I wish this was 1/16th So the fender supports, complicated little beggars, loads of PE and resin parts the small resin nuts are a real pain. Only two more to do now. Cheers for looking Dan
Dads203
Another small update, had an hour today at the bench so not much done, All the fender supports are complete now. I've worked on the antenna base or one of them, and it took a couple of attempts to get it looking right. Made from micro steel tubing, ally foil and lead wire. The US military tend to tie back the whips are they are long, low power lines and radios do not really mix so well and can give you a really bad day so I wanted to do this with my build, getting the bend in the spring was fun. First attempt... And the second final version. Please enjoy Dan

Dads203
Thank you guys, hope you all had a good Xmas So a small update today. Been working on the smoke grenade launcher brackets, soldered up and one fitted with the welds added, I have to make the armoured cable housing for both yet and fit the launchers. Also started on the lower hull, filling the damper mounting holes to start, then adding the correct shape bump stops to the hull and each axle. Engineer66
Hi Dan, cracking work as usual... Is this any good for the armoured cable to the smoke launchers? http://www.hiroboy.com/120124_Flexible_Metal_Mesh_Hose_Braided_Hose_Style_10mm__P968--product--3749.html Their site is worth checking out for other useful bits and pieces. Cheers Al Cheers Al, I did look at the braided cables and I think they might be a bit on the thick side, Going to use some .4 lead wire for the leads and roll them softly with a flat file, that should give the impression that They are armoured cables. Dads203
Small update, Not had much time to get stuck in with this lately so another small update. Suspension work mainly, adding the missing bump stops, not gong to mad on this one as the underside of the Tamiya kit is not accurate at all, I could put it right but I really cant be bothered with the extra work required. Also the plastic is really brittle now, I've cracked the lower hull a few times just removing soft detail and reworking the suspension might end up in destroying it. turret tie downs added. clean up of the resin roadwheels , you can see the kit part with the floating hub Enjoy Dan
The_Lancaster
Very impressive work there! The Resin road wheels are definately an improvement when it comes to the hub!
longshanks
Think its probably a smart move to step back from any potential plastic explosions. Kev
