Hockeyboy76
Disgusted by the F-22 being chosen, the lead designer & the Chief test pilot of the F-23 program "acquired an airframe & defected. They landed at BAE Warton & handed themselves to the British authorities. When asked the Brits denied all knowledge of this ever taking place & have always claimed they bought the rights to the aircraft. raptormodeller
Like the back story, she does look unusually big in 1/144 though...
Hockeyboy76
Not sure on the base colour before the digital decals. Light grey? Dark grey?
raptormodeller
I'd go dark grey, even matt black to give it an air of menace
Hockeyboy76
I went with a couple of coats of blue grey. I have micro meshed that & is now drying under Future. ( other floor polishes are available!) Hope to post some pics later.
raptormodeller
How big exactly (more or less), I'm after a YF-23 for a whiff, and the 1/144 version might cut it versus the 1/48 version... Looking forward to the gallery pics! chomp chomp -raptor

Hockeyboy76
As promised, a photo update. Only decalling the topside in digital camo, as this is how it was during the trials at a secret location not far from here. Needs some weathering & a coat of matt varnish to calm it all down.
S5 modeller
Nice decal work. I think you're right, it does need a bit of calming down, it's a bit bright at the moment.
Hockeyboy76
The Tamiya flat clear has calmed the colours down. Hope to get some pics soon.

raptormodeller
Looks good, but I think the digi-camo stands out a bit too much and may even look a bit out of place, still, a wonderful build Edited November 24, 2015 by raptormodeller
