That's a terrific looking Gannet. Great weathering. Did you sand down the strengthening ribs? They look much more to scale than they do on my as yet unbuilt one.

I'm working on mine at present - having a bit of a struggle to be honest but it's the only option available. I have taken inspiration from yours so thanks.

Love it. Did you use PE? What did you use to rig the antennas?

Thanx DAG there's no PE here just EZline for the antenna, it's good stuff...

Cheers Meatbox. No bud I didn't do any mucking about like that, she's all out the box...

I'm blushing Iain... These Sword kits are OK but they do need a bit of fiddling. There's not much going on inside its all about what's outside mate. U/carridge is woeful, be careful and watch the nav lights....

Cheers mate

When I first saw the sprue shots of this I did have some serious misgivings about the kit, and the prominent surface detail but you have demonstrated that it can turn into a very nice finished product. I may have to put this back on the radar, great build!

Thanks to everyone who's responded, a little bit overwhelming!! I'll always try to respond btw...

Does anybody know I can't load up more than 3 photos at a time. I'm using PhotoBucket (it's a bit hit and miss at the best of times), it's normally ok. I write some text paste a snap, a bit more text paste another photo, then third image go to paste and the screen wipes back to the beginning..!!! Frustrating!

Thanx Bob..

I haven't build the Revell or the Trumpy ones yet, but I think she's a great little kit, no wing fold mind but cheap enough just quench that Gannet craving...

Thanks. Very encouraging for someone with my meagre skills.

Very nice paint job, did it build ok ?

Thanks Head.

A bit of a fiddle, no locating pins and landing gear is a bit rubbish, some mis-moulding of the plastic but apart from that she's really alright.

Very nice indeed. As others have said, a strangely beautiful aeroplane, the Kerosene Converter. And your model is top notch, with a great paint job.

First post, first class! very nicely done, and just enough disruption of the main camo colours to bring scale and depth.

Take care,

Matt

I think i''m in love..... That is... undeniably the best model I have seen all year. Really well done! I don't think my words could give justice to such photos of excellence and so I shall leave them to do the talking :)

You are right about the landing gear - there're no spigots to attach the main wheels on with mine.

Yeah Iain it's a bit rough and ready in places, I stretched out a bit of sprue and glued it on to the axle thingy-me-bob..

Great work, love it!

Really kind words lads especially from you Sam. I've got to say I think I got away with it with the old Gannet .

A great confidence boost none the less

Beautiful work, what did you use to bring out the panel lines out of interest?

Seriously good work. I wish I could my weathering to look that realistic.

Hi Flash, I used a mixture of pre-shading, UMP dark dirt wash and when dry an oil pin wash. I think I prefer the oil pin wash against a clay based one but I haven't yet had the courage to do a full oil wash.

Leoni mate there's nothing special about it, with the products around nowadays you just it slather it on....bingo

Cheers guys

Please let me know what you think good and bad....

Well I think your Gannets good and I think the fact that there isnt a main stream injection kit out there (AEW) in 1/48 is bad :-(

Great build, love it - if you dont mind me saying I would have added just a hint of a sheen to it to "un matt" it though :goodjob:

Hi Gary.

You're right about that it's a crying shame that there isn't more kits of this type of subject, it's all about seeing units I guess.

And no I don't mind about constructive criticism, I welcome it. Yeah could've given her a little satin cote. Didn't think of it to be honest mate...

Cheers Gary
