1/48 - Hunting Percival P.56 Provost T.Mk.1/Mk.52 & 53 by MikroMir - released

Oh dear, I am supposed to be picking one up from Clifton Curios on Saturday!

I to would like to know what MM are going to do about the kits already sold? And how quickly can a replacement mould be fabricated? In truth this is a real tragedy because I'm sure a small manufacturer has to get things right first time and invests a lot of money and then needs to see a return pretty quickly in order to keep going.

Work in Progress may find a stream of modellers PM'ing him for a copy of his crash moulded version!

I'm having the same problems (amongst others) with mine too. The forward windscreen is 3mm too wide and wont fit anywhere close so will involve some very careful hot water bending to get it to fit.. The rear part is just as bad and sits too high on the fuselage where it touches the rear of the cockpit. This will also involve some careful trimming of the fuselage and the rear of the cockpit.

The seatbelts seem far too large (almost 1/32nd scale) or the seats are too small?  Although its shown on the very poor drawings there is no hole provided for the exhaust on the port side of the cowling, the prop blades seem too small and the wrong shape so I've replaced these with something more lifelike and the general fit of parts is minimal at best.

I was hoping this would be an enjoyable build as I so want one in the collection but it won't beat me yet and shall finish it as best I can. Such a shame👎

Wow

The 1/72 kit was close to perfect..fell together so nicely and the 1/48 is a direct upscale of the 1/72 kit. I waited to purchase mine as I was waiting for the international boxing..........I hope the issues can be solved .....as I am planning at least 4 boxes..............I am still chuffed that there is a 1/48 provost on the market........warts and all :)

Anyone know what decals options are given other then Oman ?...i hope MM managed to include Malaysian markings like my avatar

Are you sure it was MikroMir that did it in 72nd? The only other kits I know of in that scale was the lovely CMK resin one and the very old Matchbox one?

If they did I'm sure I would have built one, as, like you It's one of my favourites...

Well, I stand corrected on that one...How'd I miss that ! Must look out for it.  Thanks for the info.

And they do it with Irish Markings too. Wonder if the next 48th kit will have them in too? Mind you, it's probably not difficult to adapt one Max Decals sheets?👍

built 2 of them and loved every minute of it. I even loved the canopy design.... much more realistic then the cmk n mb ones. I decided to sell my cmk one due to the blob like canopy after completing the s&m ones

We are in a hurry to improve the situation. The mold is already milled. Now there will be 3 parts - front, center and back

Dear Sergey,

Thank you for your responsiveness. But don't work too fast. Have a close look at the real thing or at pictures of the real thing - see herebelow.

Provost canopy is a subtle piece of engineering looking rounder and square... Sliding parts (why in two parts? 🤬) plexiglas aft clear extension and rails, Two small vents are missing at the top, etc.

I don't want to be unpleasant but I confess being not convinced by the shapes nor by the technical solutions proposed in your new clear sprue 3D render.

Regards,

V.P.

From those pics it looks like the front screen from the kit is fine, its just the profile of the front of the hood which needs changing?

Yes, except that the windscreen doesn't fit at the bottom either. When you correct that the frame work goes out of alignment as well. See Post #53 above.

The important thing is to get that canopy arch shape correct at the windscreen to sliding part especially, and the fit to the fuselage.  Also worth taking a close look at the sliding section in respect to the aft clear part which is unframed.

I can live without the vents, they would be very easy to make up.

I saw a couple for sale today at the Salisbury show and I had a peek in the box, I was surprised on how big the wing span was for a 1/48 kit, it's actually a decent size although I didn't buy one.
