Tamiya 1/32 P-51D

Latest project completed. Not much to say about this kit that hasn't already been said - it's pretty much fantastic & falls together so any mistakes are purely mine! I'm not too good at bare metal finishes so this dictated that I pick the option that features olive green at least on the upper surfaces. So, Xtraclour for the Olive Drab with Alclad White aluminium for the rest it was. This subject choice meant it's an early P51 without the fin fillet (alternative tails in the box). It SHOULD also have the early fabric covered elevators but I missed this part & fitted the metal elevators. Having built their Spitfire VIII I was ready for some issues with the removable cowlings but I'm happy to be able to say that the fit here was better although I'm still not sure about the "pull" of the various magnets that have to be fitted as you move through the build process. However, like the Spitfire, I found the decals a bit of a drag, breaking quite easily & sticking as soon as they hit the surface so plenty of decalsol needed. Anyway, I'm quite pleased with the result.
