Brundledonk
I ripped the green bit off of one of those washing up sponge things (you know the ones that can remove nuked on gravy) , covered it in masking sol and did this 20150505_115122 by peter hutchings, on Flickr And over the top of that with a light coat of Tamiya german grey Now I'm not going to sugar coat this, but what is about to unfold is basically a series of pictures of the same part getting covered in masking fluid and then being over sprayed with ever increasing shades ending in black, it's not exciting, in fact It bored me to tears actually doing it, so I won't be offended if you just scroll down to the finished part, in fact I urge you to do it, reading it will only eat up,time that you will never get back and could use for something more productive, like mowing the bedroom carpet or something 20150505_115533 by peter hutchings, on Flickr More Sol and then Tamiya Nato black 20150505_120516 by peter hutchings, on Flickr And if anyone is still there and hasn't spat in the goldfish bowl and kicked the dog due to the complete drudgery of it all Yes you guessed it more Sol and wait for it Tamiya semi, yes you heard me semi gloss black 20150505_121213 by peter hutchings, on Flickr Edited November 3, 2015 by Brundledonk
Brundledonk
And drum roll dddddrrrrrrrrrrrrr ddddrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 20150505_122322 by peter hutchings, on Flickr I can hear you all now " is that it ? I sat bored out of my tiny, waiting to see something magical and you sprung this cack on me ! " I don't blame you really I dont, I was none too impressed either, but it's not finished yet and might actually end up looking not completely fubar This looks like a bit of an Emperor''s new clothes moment, but I assure you that a coat of Tamiya Buff or deck tan (I forget which one) has been lightly sprayed over 20150505_122350 by peter hutchings, on Flickr And now I'm spraying Tamiya flat earth, light coats slowly building up,a dirty, dusty look (I know it's flat earth as I can see the paint pot just above my wrist 20150505_123531 by peter hutchings, on Flickr The trick to this is softly softly catchy monkey, use thin light coats and I keep stopping and checking as I go as it's easy to over do it 20150505_123539 by peter hutchings, on Flickr __________________ Edited November 3, 2015 by Brundledonk
Brundledonk
If you are still with me and haven't lost consciousness yet, I'm spraying dusty shades (sounds like a pub singer) inside the wheel arches too 20150505_123543 by peter hutchings, on Flickr I'm still spraying dem dusty shades, oh man I love dem dusty shades 20150505_124423 by peter hutchings, on Flickr I can't tell if this is finished or if I'm still spraying dem dusty shades ! But you get the idea of what's going on. Please let me know if you do know what's going on (cos I'm piggin lost) 20150505_124430 by peter hutchings, on Flickr I'm almost certain but not completely that this is finished now 20150505_125357 by peter hutchings, on Flickr Edited November 3, 2015 by Brundledonk

Brundledonk
A few shades of Alclad for the exhaust pipe 20150505_152326 by peter hutchings, on Flickr And the back box 20150505_152252 by peter hutchings, on Flickr A bit of pigment and some sepia wash 20150505_153717 by peter hutchings, on Flickr I'm not going to make it dusty as it seems a shame to cover the Alclad, we'll just pretend that wallace has been to Kwik-fit to get the van through the MOT 20150505_153724 by peter hutchings, on Flickr 20150505_153734 by peter hutchings, on Flickr __________________ Edited November 3, 2015 by Brundledonk

Brundledonk
Sorry for the lack of updates, I've recently updated my iPad to iOS 9 point something or other and it has robbed me of the ability to copy and paste the BB code from Flickr ( it seems every update causes a new issue with functions) I think I've got it sorted and will have a stab at getting a pic up now A while back I built the Shaun the Sheep Landrover and made some mats for the cab. I thought it would work in this one so I cut some from plastic card https://farm8.staticflickr Edited December 3, 2015 by Brundledonk

Brundledonk
Whats happened,i'm getting withdrawl symptoms from this thread... Hehehe, I still can't believe anyone can follow this without losing the will to live lol Apologies for the lack of updates but my iPad and Flickr are refusing point blank to play nicely and Xmas came along and got in the way. I've given Flickr a damn good thrashing and am literally just transferring the remaining pics over to photobucket as I type, so I'll update a bit later ( providing of course I don't get squashed or mashed between now and then) Pete Looks a fun build! Must try and get one of these kits to go along with my Wallace and Gromit tractor kit I built earlier in the year. Great weathering techniques thanks for showing how it was done Yes mate a ton of fun, I've built the tractor and Landrover too and just as much of a giggle as this one they are Pete
Brundledonk
Ok then after an exceptionally mahoosive time gap it's time to update and I hope this bleeding well works this time or I'll be flushing the iPad down the pooper and reverting back to a ZX Spectrum Way back when I made the Shaun the shee Landrover I made some floor mats ( I'm getting deja vu typing that ) I thought that it would look good in the van so I cut some from styrene sheet It only flipping worked ! ( Yay ) it must of been sacrificing the wife by boiling her in oil and kicking the dogs that appeased the gods of technology. ( I'm only kidding I'd never hurt my dogs ) A few lines scribed with the scribey thing and a coat of semigloss black and here it is And I have mixed a colour for the body (what a mare that was lol), I didn't have any dark blue so had to use clear blue so the paint is very translucent I tested it over a white primer and it was far too light, it doesn't look too bad over grey though This bit is over a white primer, I will need to re-prime it and try again Edited March 15, 2018 by Brundledonk
Brundledonk
You can see how far out (far out man) it is against the unpainted dash. The colour it's moulded in looks pretty close to the prop And watch out for the skull, he managed to possess the man who came to read the meter the other day ( I warned him not to stare into his eye sockets) Christ knows waht I'm going to tell the gas board when they ask why their man is vomiting pea soup and doing 360s with his head Edited March 15, 2018 by Brundledonk
