WL419. Martin-Baker Test Aircraft

Recommended Posts

My second entry will be Martin Bakers WL419 ejection seat test aircraft.

The basis of the build will be the Xtrakit Mk7 with the discarded F8 tail from my Prone Meteor build to produce the Mk7.5.

Haven't posted for a while, work seems to have intervened.

Managed to grab the odd 10mins here and there and have made a bit of progress.

Used the unwanted F8 tail from my Prone build to replace the T& tail. The rest of the kit was then built as per instructions.

Made a start of converting the cockpit. The removed the IP detail from the rear cockpit. Add started making up the canopy.

The from part of the canopy was taken from the NF14 canopy. The rear was the T7 canopy cut down.

Progress shown below. I will used to plasticard to produce a bulkhead for the front canopy and complete the rest of the rear structure.

I will use a couple of MB ejection seats from my spares box.

Just had a bit of a Doh! moment.

Looks like forgot to add some nose weight.

Having an open second cockpit, I was able to add a little bit of lead to bring the nose down.

Finished photos are now in the gallery.
