Junkers Ju 88 A-5 Zvezda

Recommended Posts

After registering and introducing myself in the "New member" section, http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234990577-hello-from-cologne-germany/ I would like to show some of my models. I hope it is ok to show some work that has been posted somewhere else before.

I would like to start with this Junkers Ju 88.

It was done mainly OOB.

I painted the A-5 with Gunze Acrylics (my favorite brand), gave it a wash with oil colors and finaly weathered it with Tamiyas Weathering Sets.
This plane flew with the KG 30 in Finnland 1941/42.
The Kit-decals are rather simple (only crosses and and unit markings), so I added some stencils from the Revell kit.

Comments and criticsm are welcome.

Very nice result! Interesting weathering and the black undersides refreshes rather dull in principle RLM 70/71 pattern a lot...

Congratulations!

@ Stew: those Zvezda crew figures are realy great. Best figures in 1/72 that come with a kit i have ever seen. Multipose and very good sculpting. Love them. Zvezda did a little ground crew set which is nice too. Better than the old Preiser figures. I hope they will do a crew set in the future.

here is a close up:

Welcome Wolfgang,

A really impressive introduction to your skills. The cockpit looks very much alive and crowded!

It strikes me as odd that the Russians produce the only kit of a Battle of Britain 88, and that no manufacturer has produced an A-1 which was much more prevalent during 1940. Do you have any thoughts on converting this kit. Looks to me to be no more than shortening the wingtips and putting a single gun scarf ring (is that what you call it?) in the rear canopy.

Any way, great job - well done.

Matt
