Colin1967
Thank you so much for the sprue pics - doesn't look to bad I think I will be able to build it - With my limited modelling skills... I am very interested in seeing pics of it taped up, pretty please ! Kind regards Colin.
Rafdec
Saw the built up model at Telford. Looked quite nice with the engraved detail. Will wait for a WIP or write up in one of the magazines before parting with the cash. Far cheaper than the Magna kit if it is accurate? Hope to see someone do some nice complete aftermarket decals for it with MEAF / NEAF titling.
bzn20
did they whistle? one of the nicknames apart from the "flying t**" was the "whistling Wheelbarrow" We had these at Brize, 115 Sqn 1976 just before converting to the Raspberry Ripple Andovers. It was "named" either Flying Wheel Barrow or the Whistling T**. Who is going to make one with the Fuse vortex generators then? That will be fun! Couple of things..Check which of the Elan or BEA Argosys (later ones had them G-ASXO is one)you're doing because some have sizeable wing fences outbd of No1 and No4 engine. The later Argosy had Shackleton's wings .Avro and Armstrong Whitworth being in the Hawker Siddeley group. Do a Google image search for each operator.
bentwaters81tfw
A quick tape up. Remember this is a typical Mach 2, there are no locating tabs along the joins, and the tape keeps falling off, probably because the parts need a wash. It looks promising, but it will need care and patience. Lining up the fuselage haves, the rear door assembly, and mating the two will need careful measuring, it's not a perfect join. Then again, neither is anything else perfect, the booms to the wings will need filing. I can't get any more parts to stay taped, but it's do-able. I suppose I will have to do a WIP before anyone else has a crack. I've made worse.
bentwaters81tfw
.The later Argosy had Shackleton's wings .Avro and Armstrong Whitworth being in the Hawker Siddeley group. Other way round. I have the Warpaint book. The early civil freighters had Shack wings, the later ones and the RAF ones had the later wing, which improves performance all round.
Geoff_B
I did ask him if he fancied a crack at the Belfast, he didn't laugh me off of the stand That would be rather interesting as it likely to be as nearly popular as the Argosy for the right price. It would be quite large and thus likely to be more expensive but it would be very impressive
Geoff_B
I wonder if many were study the Argosy at Cosford today on the way home, with an eye to building thiers or maybe adding an interior. Be interesting if we see aftermarket stuff such as decals, detail parts etc ?
kev67
Had a butchers at the kit on Saturday, looks promising, and I'm sure with some patience and skill it will make into a impressive model, I like the camoflage scheme one
bzn20
Other way round. I have the Warpaint book. The early civil freighters had Shack wings, the later ones and the RAF ones had the later wing, which improves performance all round. I should have checked instead of from memory. Not mine.......................... I borrowed someone elses! Bit lazy really, the Argosy Database article in Aeroplane (Sept 2015) was 2 magazines down in a pile next to my chair! Its worth getting if you cant get the Warpaint book and can remember where you put it. Easy to spot, its got a Spitfire on the cover along with the other 100 odd. To make it easier, here is the link.. http://shop.keypublishing.com/issue/View/issue/AM509/aeroplane-monthly-september-2015 £4.40...17 pages.Scale drawing. Colin1967
Thank you for the taped up pics of the sprue parts, looks not to bad to me, maybe a bit of extra work here and their, after all its not a 'shake and bake' kit, lookingforward to your build on this one, kind regards Colin. bentwaters81tfw
A word of consolation, it's not as bad as the Valium. It is pretty square. I'm not starting it straight away, I have a couple of jobs to finish first, though I may do a bit here and there as a fill-in.
Team Aer Lingus
Got mine on Saturday It looks better than some other Mach2 kits will take some preparation but could be made into a very nice model Now I'm praying for someone to do Aer Turas EI-AVJ decals over to you Nick or Ray Eamonn
richw_82
Argosy 100/101 series had the Shackleton derived wing. It was designated the Avro Type 733. Drawings for this wing are in our archive at Coventry amongst many other Shack derived bits!
general melchett
Looks good Frank, peered inside the box on Friday and it looked OK, I didn't get one this time (forgot !) but will look to getting one later....appears perfectly serviceable from here.... Albeback52
Have to say I'm quite impressed with this. Just thinking about the Mach 2 Valiant and DC-4 brings me out in a cold sweat and I haven't plucked up the courage to tackle the Martin Seamaster! However, if I can get by with just the Isle of Jura 10 year old malt and forego the Prozac I think it will be fine. . Remarkably little flash in evidence compared to other Mach 2 kits. Don't mind a bit of effort in building. What the hell!! Just ordered one from the big H! 10% discount too! Allan
Radleigh
No Belfast from Mach2... I emailed him thanking him for the Argosy and asked about the Belfast.. Hi Radleigh ... Nice to read from you . It seems that my Flying Tit has been appreciate by many collectors indeed !! About the Belfast , the answer is no because it is a too large airplane for my injection press capabilities ( 58 cm maximum) ... too bad !!! See you next year at the same place Cheers * Didier I was going to be sarcastic asking if he can break the fuselage up into 4 pieces
Graham Boak
But he could get a Hastings in. I feel my second Mach 2 kit coming on.

keefr22
But he could get a Hastings in. S&M have promised one.... I wish Airfix would do the right thing though!
feldr
I heard they had some new for Telford that was a British suibject, didn't think it would be an Argosy though, nice! Colin Yep, and they were going for £35.00... missed that...
bentwaters81tfw
Show price was £35, until the rush started, then they went up to £45. Mel was hoping the masters would be on show for the Haystack, but they never arrived. He said they should be available at Southern Expo.
Flankerman
Not really my area of interest - but how about sawing off the bottom of the fuselage below the cockpit - to make it into a detachable cargo pod, like the USAF XC-120 Pack Plane....... You would have to scratch a new main undercarriage extending forwards... but it would look awesome. Now that's what I would call a 'What If?' ..... more here. Geoff_B
Well I decided to cancel my reserved Argosy with Hannants, not that I don't want it or can't afford it after SMW, but I did get a kit direct off Didier at the show which I will be building later. I cancelled it because even I was surprised at the popularity and thought I would give up my pre-order so that someone else could benefit who wasn't able to get to Telford last weekend. I can just re-order it when is restocked as I have a project in mind for it anyway which should be an interesting exercise next year.
Mike0179
I will be looking forward to getting mine from Hannants. I want to do mine in SAFE Air markings as this is the Aircraft I have seen personally. I have a couple hundred photos of it (Though some have my kids in them.) If someone needs any for reference I would be glad to help. (I have cockpit photos too.)
