Well its a start ! a small one but a start at least. I hope I can get this done in time. The only thing worrying me so far is the windows I think A drill and file might be the quickest route.

Nice one Rob, you do seem to like these "Mission Impossible" builds, the Stirling is something special, I well remember building the old Airfix kit when I was a nipper, i was tempted to buy one not so long ago but my sausage fingers would never do it justice.

Cheers

Cheers Perdu it's a loyal steed 13 years ive had her now although she's heavily modified by me now I totally re wired it 2x now and replaced the pots, fitted a new Vibrato system , lock nut and scalloped the last 4 frets. Great guitar it plays like Butter.

Dennis your models are amazing I know you could make a Stirling to put us all to shame :)

Steve your work is a lot more involved though what your doing with the Hawks and Provosts is crazy good and and inspiration to us all pushing the limits as always im told that's part an parcel of being a good pilot ;)

Haha Neil ive been having a good read through your thread and im a long way off by the looks of it, yours is looking cracking as always all the extras in the nose and wheel bays I wish I had not seen as I'll be tempted to add something now !

Cheers Rob :)

Well some throw the sink at it I am just throwing it together. Normally I would spend more time here seeing as Italeri have done such a stellar job on the interior. But seeing as most of it is green and not going to be seen. I am just going to mist some primer on throw some green on and highlight a few details and give it a wash.

The fit is excellent and for me having a kit with an interior such as this is a first.

Not my best work but its good enough for Jazz. I am doing this on purpose for the sake of a deadline but also just to see how buildable it is out the box with minimal fuss.

Cheers Rob :)

"just to see how buildable it is out the box with minimal fuss." is the right answer Rob

get to it chap

There's a music shop in a small mid Wales market town

up on the wall was/is (daren't go back) a green Ibanez gently humming to me

Now I am no kind of guitarist though I've been plinking since I were a lad but the lovely lady running the shop said

"That is your guitar you know, I'll get it down for you to try for size"

I ran away

but I wish I hadnt

oh well...

A green Ibanez ! , which one is it ? If it's a JEM77or a UV77 then they are some of the rarest and best playing Ibanez Guitars from the mid 80s when Steve Vai was touring with David Lee Roth for the Skyscraper album in 1986/7 if it's a good price you should definatly get it I'll help set it up for you if you need. :) that's if I don't run off with it :)

All this talk of Guitars and Bombers I think I might have ago a covering the Dambusters music in a Heavy Rock guitar style :)

Perdu that sounds like an Ibanez EP7 Euphoria Steve Vai guitar it's a gorgeous piece of kit.

Haha Ced I will stick with Guitar thanks I do like Ukelele however but it's a totally different way of thinking.

That is a nice rig you've got there Rob! Proper rock!

My main guitar is a completely indestructible 1989 Japanese Fender 57 reissue in your classic tobacco sunburst with a single ply white scratchplate! Got it for my 17th birthday in 1990, my mum giving me the option of either getting the guitar I wanted or else driving lessons and a car.

I opted for the guitar figuring it would be better for getting the girls. It wasn't, they all went for the flipping drummer...

And when i say indestructible, well it is.... It survived many hard punk gigs and also came out unscathed when my house burnt down.

Yeah, with me in it, but hey, rock and roll....

Great work on the kit mate,

Cheers

Viv

Oh, and change the name of this thread to "It will make it to Telford!" Because it will! :)

Hahaha Viv that's right the only girls guitarists attract are usually nutters and control freaks. The rest of the band gets the girls and the guitarist gets to talk about amps tone and guitarists with other fellas over a pint followed by a chinese hahah. Mind you in our case the singer is a girl so that makes it all a bit different I guess.

I'd choose the strat over a car any day you can't go wrong with a strat particularlyJapaneseFenders they are by far and a way the best along with Charvel Strats :)

I'd really really drool over a decent Tele

I wish I'd bunged my money down in the sixties when I could probably have afforded 7/6d a week with a tenner downpayment

Still

I did get the girls then, even if I wouldn't now :)

Now I have 'the girl' and the Midget and a lovely acoustic honey toned sweetie

But I still wish I'd... sometimes :)

Blimey - guitar talk on a Stirling thread, my sort of random!

I'm also a guitarist, actually I seem to be a bit of a guitar herder, at last count there were 30 in the flock. I was always partial to the S Series Ibanez back in the day, ended up owning two. Now my main squeezes are Strats, LsL's (Tele style, plays as well as a Custom Shop Tele, but at half the price), Les Paul's and a recently acquired Thorn DeLuxe 90. Typical tone hound though.

Good luck with the Stirling build. Nice detail on the interior straight out of the box. :)

Here's mine. She's a late 80s MIJ Fender which I bought in Sound Control in Edinburgh right at the end of 1989.
