Jb65rams
My first build will be MPM F.8 Prone. Ever since I saw it at RAF Cosford I have want to build one, as I like odd looking experimental planes. Will post the sprue shots when I start, as they are still sealed in the plastic bag. Jb65rams
Sprue shots to start. MPM basic F.8 sprues. The additional spure with the additional bits for the prone. First up was a bit of surgery to remove the nose and tail of the standard F.8 Hoping the use of the mitre block will give me some nice square edges. The F.8 tail has been stashed away for my next build.
FZ6
I've wanted this kit since it came out but have yet to pick one up. Look forward to seeing how you get on with it.
toms111s
I'm going to be building the Prone Meteor as well, have you got a close up of where you made the fuselage cuts? Tom
Jb65rams
Tom, marked up photo below, highlighted the panel lines i cut on. I fixed the new nose and tail to one side of the fuselage whist it was flat on the work bench to get things straight. The assembled cockpits, painted with lifecolour deep cockpit black where then glued in place. Needed to cut the rear cockpit floor, where it butts up against the front cockpit bulkhead. AnonymousAA72
Nice idea about using the mitre block!
Jb65rams
Fuselarge has been closed up. The tail was a nice fit, but needed some plasticard shims and filler to get the nose to blend in.

Jb65rams
Got some paint on it. Not sure what went wrong with the photos, it looks a bit better in the flesh.
Davek72
I often get that with my photos. Looking good nevertheless.
SleeperService
Nice work with what looks like a tricky build. I hope to do one before too long in 48th!
Jb65rams
I would like to see one in 48th. Is there a conversion out there? Would go well with new Airfix F8. A bit of progress, decals on (managed to loose a few to the carpert monstor) and a coat of Humbrol Satin Varnish. Now the bit I hate about Meteors, the undercarriage. Just feels a little fiddly and weak in plastic. Always convinced that they are going to collapse on me down the line.
