Apache builds

I wonder if one of you can help me here?

I'm sure I remember enjoying a build thread for a British Army Apache but in my usual computerish incompetence I just cant find it anywhere

Yesterday morning my missus and I were pottering around a small model shop in Caernarfon when I picked up an Italeri 1/72 scale Apache Longbow

Now a couple of years ago Harry Wales was driving the display Apache at the Cosford show and since yesterday happened to be my birthday she up and bought it for me because she enjoyed the display so much

Now I know I ought to be careful with a certain manufacturer's kits, that there are massive discrepancies between the cockpit of the AH 1 and the early AH 64A 'pit the kit contains but it seems to have much of the basic covered if I change the outside gondola thingys and other surface odds and ends

SO I'd like to be able to refer to the build I'm sure I remember but I just can't find it

I am not starting it yet of course, I have hurdles to crash over on my scratch build Hansom before I get close to that :(

so HELPPpppppppppppppppppppppp

That walk around is going to be my bible thanks Mike

Thank you for the Armycast Link rob, when I tried to follow a link to it there was no mention of cost on it

Looks as if that will be a must have too

I am glad of the Herrick build link Rob but I'm sure there was another, maybe the Jens one Mike mentions

Dermot, if I'd seen that kit I'd have had it like a shot, it seems to have most of the sponson issues covered

I have the Armycast set, it's a cracker. The delivery was rapid too.

Not sure if the conversion would fit the new Academy kit, certainly fits the old one.

Dunno if this helps but I did an AH.1 conversion of the 1/72 Italeri kit and posted it on ARC a few years back.

Conversion was done with whatever was to hand and, although there is a lot I`d like to change, the main point of the exercise was getting all the lumps and bumps added for the British version....which turned out to be rather a lot. :banghead: Some of the pics marked (with yellow dots) all the areas that required attention; it resulted in quite a dotty picture.

Cheers, Ian
