modelling minion
A new Lysander in both 1/72 and 1/48 would be a good seller with a good variety of schemes possible, anyway here's the rest of my list:- 1/72 B-24 (both D and H/J) Catalina Beaufort Manchester 1/48 Wildcat Hurricane II (b and c) Harrier GR 1/3 P-38 Blenheim I/IV A-20/Boston B-25 Seafire III Macchi 202/205 P-36 SA-330 Puma Gazelle Jet Provost/Strikemaster That will do for starters!

At Sea
As Airfix seem to be mining the FAA heritage line a lot how about these, which have RAF siblings there by making the costs workable... 1/48 Phantom FG1 (use the same twin boxing idea as Hasegawa did for an FGR2) 1/48 Buccanneer SB2 (3versions in same box, Ark Royal, RAF Green, Desert Storm) 1/48 New tool Harrier FRS1 (3 versions in same box, Pre/during/post Falklands) RAF subjects... 1/48 New tool Harrier GR 1/3 in same box with a Falkland version 1/48 Jaguar GR1/4 1/48 Spitfire XIV 1/48 Spitfire IX 1/72 Victor (use same idea as Valiant Recce version to make a K2) 1/72 New tool Vulcan (use same idea as Valiant Recce version to make a K2 or MR versions) 1/72 New tool Stirling (maybe with a spin off Sunderland in the pipeline) 1/72 New tool Halifax III (though Revell have kind of cornered the Halifax market at the moment Airfix could still steal a march) I think this is not pie in the sky either... 1/48 Fairey Delta 2 (this is a faint hope) 1/72 Concode (so is this!) Admiral Puff
Does anyone have an inkling of what is to be announced this weekend? Subject to that: * 1:48 Hunter single seat (early and late) * 1:48 Hunter T.7 * 1:48 Meteor T.7 * 1:48 Beaufort * 1:72 Canberra B.2/B.6/B.20 * 1;72 Hampden (to go with, and to the same standard as, the new Whitley) * 1:72 Viscount (prefer 800, but would be happy enough with 700) * 1:72 F.27-500 (the old -200 dates back to 1959 or 1960, and just doesn't cut it any more) * 1:72 PBY-5 (with PBY-6/PB2B-2 option) Don't particularly care when, but the sooner the better. AnonymousLL45
a quick read of the list, can't see it, given Airfix have been making over British classic in 1/48th, maybe the next flagship kit, whose only competition is 40 year old kit with plenty of errors and still has a £100 + OOB price, but which evidently still sells because it's the only option. Avro Lancaster. Even priced the same as Tamiya, it would sell. Crikey, they sold 1/24th Mosquito's and Typhoons so it's not that improbable. If they want to throw a 1/48th Lanc into the mix am sure we can look at 1/48th manchester and Lincoln conversions!!!
Robotics
No, none of the above.... Take those all away and get cracking on a new tool 1/48th scale Buccaneer. All else aside.. Done. Agent K
Given that (and I think I've mentioned this before) a number of Corgi model themes often have made their way across the Hornby divide into Airfix, then maybe a Sunderland and a Vulcan would not be too wide of the mark? RussellE
1/72 - Seafury FBII - Tempest MK V - P 40E - P38F/G - SeaVixen - Fiat CR 42 - Macchi 202/205 - SM 79 "Gobbo Maledetto" - Spitfire MkVb and Mk Vc 1/24 - G.Gladiator - Fokker DR I 1/48 - Beaufort MkIII - DH Chipmunk - DH Tigermoth Hi Gioca Merit already have a Fokker Dr 1 in 1/24 that they've released this year http://merit-intl.com/meritnew/index.php?dest=products&sku=MIL-62403 and even have a SE5 as well in 1/24 http://merit-intl.com/meritnew/index.php?dest=products&sku=MIL-62402 and both may well find their way into my stash... along with the 1/24 P47, but that's off topic looking back on my own predictions for Airfix's next 1/24, I had thought a re-tooled Hurricane or a Hawker Sea fury likely, but the more I think about it the more I think it will be a P40! dazinio
I do think that the next 1/24 kit will be a Chipmunk, numerous marking options. For many people the only military aircraft they have flown in plus many civilian versions too. The tooling would be relatively easy and there would be plenty of aircraft still around to Lidar.
RHWinter
I'd love to see a Hunting Jet Provost in 1:48th scale. A Chipmunk would be very welcome to me too - 1:48. Thanx for listening, Mr. Airfix! Yours truly, Richard
Admiral Puff
For want of something better to do (yes, I really do need to get a life ...) I've collated the votes to date, at least as far as they cover aircraft. We're certainly an eclectic lot ... In what follows I've combined some subjects (e.g. all the Vampires and Venoms are together); where a post does not specify a preferred scale I've presumed 1:72; in each vote group the types appear in no particular order other than the order in which they appeared in the posts; and, of course, e&oe - the numbers should be pretty close, but there were distractions like comfort stops, phone calls, His Majesty the Cat demanding dinner, etc. 1:72 22 votes - Buccaneer 20 votes - Spey Phantom 19 votes - Vampire/Venom variants 17 votes - Canberra variants 15 votes - Vulcan, Battle 13 votes -Beaufort, Lysander, metal wing Hurricane I, Wellington, Hampden, Victor 12 votes - Sea Vixen, Ju88 11 votes - Spitfire V/Seafire I-III, Hunter variants 10 votes - Javelin, Whirlwind fighter 9 votes - Mirage III variants, Hawker Tempest, B-24, Harrier variants, Beaufighter variants 7 votes - F4U Corsair, Firefly, Scimitar 6 votes - Lincoln, Harvard, Spitfire XIV, two-seat Meteors, P-38 variants, Sea King variants 5 votes - Hastings, Hornet/Sea Hornet, Ju52/3m, Sea Fury, Manchester, Anson, two-seat Lightnings, Tornado variants, Comet variants, VC-10 4 votes - York, single-seat Meteors, Hart variants, Hurricane II and later, P-51B/C, Concorde, Me-262, Hellcat, Yak-9, Viscount, B-25, Jaguar variants, Boston/Havoc, C-130 variants, Blenheim variants 3 votes - Sunderland, F-35, Catalina variants, Wasp/Scout, Chipmunk, Lightning F.1/3, F-86 variants, Corsair II, Barracuda, Varsity/Valetta, Jet Provost/Strikemaster variants, Dauntless, Beverley 2 votes - Gazelle, Viggen, Gannet variants, Shackleton MR.2/AEW.2, Wessex variants, Puma, Lynx, Seahawk, Bf 109 variants, DH88 Comet, BAC 1-11, Belvedere, Whirlwind helicopter variants, FD.2, Seafox, SM79, Argosy, Avenger, F-84/RF-84, Eurofighter, Skua/Roc, Boomerang, Ki46, TSR 2, MiG 23/27, FW190, B-29, RE8, Hawk 75/P-36, Spitfire XII, Spitfire VIII/IX, F-111, I-16, Walrus, Lancaster, Defiant II/TT, Swordfish II/III, 1 vote - Panther/Cougar, Wellesley, Provost T.1, Dove/Devon, Islander/Defender, Andover, F-5, L-749/1049, Skeeter, Alouette 2, A109, Explorer 600, Rotodyne, C-17, Raytheon Sentinel, Chinook, A5M Claude, F-4B/P-12, Avro Tutor, Storch, Siskin, Avro 504K, Harrier variants, BristolF2B, RQ-4A Global Hawk, P-8A/MQ-4C, V-bomber set, Helldiver, Mirgae F1, Spitfire XVI/XVIII, Miles master, D4Y Judy, Do 217, Sopwith Triplane, Sopwith Pup, DH4, DH9/9A, HP 0/100, F-106, Pilatus Porter, Britannia, Mirage 2000, P-39Q, Whitley maritime patrol, Spitfire 21, Martlet/Wildcat, Attacker, F-8 Crusader, Hudson, Typhoon II, Camel, SE5, HS125, Su-25, Su-7/17/22, A-10, MiG 17, car door Typhoon, C Class flying boat, Ilyushin Il10, Ilyushin DB3, RF-8A/G Crusader, U-2 variants, Martin B-10, AC-47/EC-47, Botha, Flamingo, DH Albatross, DH Dragonfly, Saro Lerwick, Warwick, Valentia, Albatros DV, DH Heron, Belfast, Tudor, Twin Pioneer, Macchi 202/205, Fiat CR.42, F.27-500 1:48 13 votes - Hunter variants 11 votes - Buccaneer, Scimitar 10 votes - Vampire/Venom variants, Blenheim 9 Votes - Harrier variants 8 votes - Chipmunk, Hurricane II and later, 5 votes - Two-seat Meteors, Gannet, Swift, Tempest, Hart variants 4 votes - Spey Phantom, Beaufort, DH84, Hampden, Jet Provost/Strikemaster variants 3 votes - Gazelle, Dove/Devon, Battle, Lysander, Tucano, Hornet/Sea Hornet, Sea Fury, Spitfire VIII/IX, Martlet/Wildcat 2 votes - Vulcan, Wasp/Scout, P-38 variants, F4U Corsair variants, B-25, Provost T.1, Typhoon II, Firebrand, Brigand, Spitfire V/Seafire I-III, Havoc/Boston,F-86 variants, Whirlwind helicopter, Gladiator, F2B, Spitfire XVI/XVIII, Sea King, P-51B/C, Hawk 75/P-36 1 vote - P-47 variants, Whirlwind fighter, Victor, Jaguar, DH89, Zero, Lancaster, Shackleton Mr.2/AEW.2, Islander/Defender, Kingair, Neptune, Canberra, Sea Vixen, Challenger, SA Bulldog, Lynx, single-seat Meteors, Fireflies, late Mosquito variants, Macchi 202/205, RF-8A/G Crusader, U-2 variants, Albatros DV, Heron, Barracuda, Belvedere, Skeeter, Alouette 2, A109, Explorer 600, Raytheon Sentinel, Tornado variants, Avenger, Eurofighter, Miles Master, Beaufighter variants, Halifax, MB.5, FW190, RE8, Harvard, Bf 109B/C, Spitfire 21 1:24 5 votes - Gladiator 2 votes - Whirlwind fighter, Beaufighter, Bf 109 variants 1 vote - Chipmunk, Defiant, Sea Fury, P-51B/C, TSR 2, Harrier, Fokker DR 1, Hurricane I, DH88 Comet, Spitfire V/Seafire I-III, single-seat Meteor 1:144 - one vote each for C-130, Tristar, and Voyager I have made no attempt to collate other subjects, but there does seem to be some support for naval subjects in 1:350 and military/airfield support vehicles in both 1:72 and 1:48. Dennis_C
Huh... Top-3 in both 1/72 and 1/48 suggest that classic jet designs are 'slightly' ignored by Airfix.
gioca
should be interesting to compare the list in relation to what Airfix declared ( or seems to have declared ):A) we will make all the ( or most of ) subjects of the old catalogues ( the ones from the '70 I mean, or Airfix means ) we will make only models of subjects when/where is possible the use of our 3D scanner,
Work In Progress
The new Whitley and Shackleton both show that you have misunderstood what Airfix has said. Neither is a type that has appeared from Airfix in the past, and neither was LIDAR scanned.

Work In Progress
No, you can't hope for a Hornet as what they HAVE said is they won't do kits for types for which they can't get accurate engineering drawings (third party drawings don't count), or manufacturer's CAD data in the case of new types, or work directly from an actual airframe. (Use of the actual airframe does not necessarily involve LIDAR). Neither factory engineering drawings nor an airframe exist for the Hornet. Denford
Quite right, nor a Stirling either. 'Predictions' invariably end up as Wish Lists, usually a decade's worth, and with no thought that any other Manufacturers exist. Don't 'predict' Soviet types from Airfix. Yes I know they re-tooled the MiG-15, but that's the exception that proves the rule: look to the several eastern bloc kit makers. Incidentally there's a 'Wish List' section on this site under the 'Forum' heading! Not many people (seem to) know that. Last posting was September and that was for (I think) a tank. Knight_Flyer
Looking at the wish list section and unless I'm looking at the wrong one or mis-interpreted the description, appears to be for members listing the kits they want to buy which are already released. whereas this thread is for kits not already made by Airfix with members commenting on which models they think will be or would like to be released. Roman Schilhart
I would welcome a new bunch of 1/72 DH Mosquitos. I know that both Hasegawa and Tamiya have this type in their catalogue; the Hasegawa kit is outdated in detail and doesn't fit very well (split canopies! engine parts!). Tamiya kits are great, but sometimes difficult to get. None of both have a Mk.XXX in their catalogue. And the Mosquito is one of the iconic british aircraft, so why leave it to the guys from far east?

Ray S
Having given it long and serious thought, I have concluded that they will do a DHC-6 Twin Otter, mainly because I have a number of them on the go at the moment from the old Matchbox (Revell re-issue) kit. There are plenty around to Lidar, and they have been in use in a whole raft of liveries. Cheers, Ray
