Radpoe Spitfire
Had a look at images of preserved shermans in Argentina, many of the one preserved seem to be Firefly Vc's. is this the case or are they of a local pattern upgrade? dogsbody
That's possible. Great Britain and The Argentine had close connection up to the late 70's. They may have received the Fireflys from them. Chris
JackG
Do a search on Repotenciado, and you will find some information. They were Fireflies formerly belonging to Belgium. In the 1970's the Argentine upgraded them to diesel engines and 105mm gun. The huge armament resulted in having the crew reduced to three. regards, Jack
old thumper
I once saw a picture of a WW1 tank named Fray Bentos, perhaps that was also Argentinian.

I grew up on thier pies😄 A shame the tank itself is not still with us but the brand is. It is entirely possible it could have Argentinian connections though. Cheers for the info, Adrian
