argentinian Shermans

Do a search on Repotenciado, and you will find some information. They were Fireflies formerly belonging to Belgium. In the 1970's the Argentine upgraded them to diesel engines and 105mm gun. The huge armament resulted in having the crew reduced to three.

Jack

Thanks for that info Jack, the site you mention is where I saw the images but didn't go further - shall look more into it. It is so nice to see so many of the type preserved- even with the wrong calibre weapon.

I once saw a picture of a WW1 tank named Fray Bentos, perhaps that was also Argentinian.

Fray Bentos!!!! I grew up on thier pies😄

A shame the tank itself is not still with us but the brand is. It is entirely possible it could have Argentinian connections though.

Cheers for the info, Adrian

Fray Bentos is on the other side of the River Plate in Uruguay.
