1/32 - McDonnell Douglas Phantom (F-4K/M & F-4B/N) by Hong Kong Models

Recommended Posts

I don't know how many of these I'd have to get. Even if inaccurate, it will be a lot more accurate than I would manage to make starting with a Tamiya F-4J.

And then there's all the lovely aftermarket that will inevitably follow...

:lol: When the time comes, make me an offer John!!. I actually have a Revell FGR 2 as well. Definitely NOT for sale though!.

Allan

given the time it takes to see anything go from rumour to a box you can have them but I will just get the nurse in our old folks home to pass it over from my bed to yours :clif:

On a slightly more serious note now that HK have dropped the teaser it would be nice to get

a confirmation, and

b a schedule/time scale - even if very loose and approximate.

I ask as quite a lot of us are actively contemplating cutting up our expensive 1/32 F-4J's and instead we could all be making nice USN versions or 74 Sqn versions while filling in our pre-order forms.

I'd buy one. 1/32 is my preferred scale. Then I'll continue to empty my bank account with all the aftermarket that I'd have to buy.

Cheers,

Tom.

Well i think i would have to find space for 3 of em just to cover the Leuchars specials! Wait a minute though, there was more than that!

Arabest,

Geoff.

As a die hard 32nd only builder , with 10 Tamiya F-4s done so far , this is the best news I've had in long time and I can see 4 at least in my future , depending on decal options, and since Jennings Heilig is involved in designing the kit decals , and additional ones in his Fundecal range , that seems pretty well assured

Bring them on .. Please .. As for getting in the way of the Lanc, well I can house a lot more F-4s in 32nd that Lancs!

HK Models, are you there??

So everyone's talking about the new 1/32 scale RAF F-4 Phantoms, when is it expected?

Great news though and thanks to anyone involved with this!! :yahoo:

Depends what you call 'unaffordable' HK and Tamiya Mosquitos are £150. Tamiya F-4s around £100. Mel's conversion would be around £200 on top of that. A Spey F-4 should be not more than £125 using that criteria.

The F-4 has a lot more heft than a Mosquito and similarly complex geometry with many more appendages.

My guess is more like £160-175 per HKM Spey Toom. The cost of a case of a good single malt.

I'll be buying two - F-4K/Ms that is. This is kit-of-a-lifetime material.

And, yes, you can convert a pre decimal era Revell into an FG.1 or FGR.2 using yoghurt pots and other carp (anagram) but life's too short unless you're a skinflint or broke.

Embrace, enjoy, the 1/32 Spey Toom is on its way and is going to make a lot of model makers very happy, me included.

:lol: Well John, unless you are a lot older than me (I'm 57)I'm afraid it looks as if you will have to ask your nurse to post them to me in the afterlife!! I'm very patient though!! Something to keep me going through eternity in my man cave in the sky!

Same age as you Allan but I'm planning on this HKM beauty being on my modelling table by the Spring of 2017, possibly earlier.

As I understand things, the massive and highly complex HKM 1/32 Lancaster has been delayed by corrective tweaking - these HKM masterpieces are not 7s/6d Airfix series 5 kits with forty parts.

Well if it happens then I'll definitely be getting one no matter what the cost, (more to do with the fact that it's the editor of AMW's favourite version of his favourite aircraft and he knows I'd happily build it for them..!). Personally I don't really favour one scale over any other, it's all about the subject matter to me, not bothered if it's huge, big, I realise that limited space is always an issue for most folks of course but I'm very lucky on that score, or a tiddler, (I enjoy building 1/700th ships).

A big UK F-4 would be very welcome over here...lets hope it happens at some point....(until then I suppose I'll just have to crack on with my 1/24th CM FGR.2 when it arrives :wicked: )

Likewise Andy.... Look forward to seeing the 1/24th FGR.2, is that for the mag too?

Yeah, quite excited about the Mars...I have the 1/32nd Hudson back on the go, but once this arrives I will make a start and put it back to one side as I want the Mars done for next years SMW. If you need need any help taking photos of the Phantom, I have a *large* area...happy to help if I can.

I do not want to spoil the fun but you will not like the price...

The amount I usually end up splashing out on a kit in 1/32 plus all the aftermarket to satisfy my needs, I can safely say I'll still be getting one.

Cheers,

Tom.

Well since my 32nd f-4B built nearly 10 years ago using the Extinct Cutting Edge sets cost me at least £160-£170 then so when it comes to spending big money on specialist F-4 variants if you want it , you pay for it . the key is if you want if ,

I accept that 32nd is a scale that is a niche interest , but some of us do love working with models this big , and accept the associated costs ..maybe that'll change when I retire in 10 years of so .. but for the time being I'm enjoying it, and yes an F-4B without hacking up a tamiya kit sounds really good..

Bring it on...!
