Spookytooth
Sounds like a good plan! Personally, I'd have rather cut my own masks and painted those letters, but you know I hate decals (wet ones, don't even want to mention dry ones ) Ciao Looking at it now Giemme, I may have to get some practice soon. Not sure what to do? Why couldn`t they just supply normal ones... Simon.
rob85
Never tired dry transfers just wet... looks annoying. Take your time with it to recover as you have done some cracking work on this Rob

Take your time with it to recover as you have done some cracking work on this Rob Thanks Rob, one of those things. Will start to search the spares box ( decals that is) to see what I can find extra. Spookytooth
There is a strange satisfaction in refurbishing kits, that have been cast aside for a while There is mate, especially if it means I can start a new build when done. LOL. That aside, it has given me chance to try out ideas which I probably would not of used on this build . Simon.
Spookytooth
Well , here is a damage report. Dry decals are a pita... Of the 6 to apply (no wet decals to replace them with ) 3 went down OK ish. Half of one as well, but the other remaining ones left this. The starboard side was worse. The port side not so bad. So will clean up and varnish before making some more out of cut up decals (oh boy). Until then All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
That's nasty! But thanks for sharing, now I know I want to stay away from dry decals!! I'm sure you'll recover this recovery build, and varnish should be fine to sort that out. And cutting up decals is not that bad Ciao
Spookytooth
Don`t let me put you off dry decals Giemme, they just did not work for me. As for the damage, well a rub or two with a sanding stick, a coat of varnish and who knows ? Simon.
giemme
Don`t let me put you off dry decals Giemme, they just did not work for me. No worries Simon, I'm already put off decals by myself Ciao
Spookytooth
The morning after the night before.. A good look this morning and sod it..., lets us (s)pray. The port side does not look bad at all. The starboard side, not sure, with decals to go on, it just may go. While some gloss varnish was left in the pot, I gave the small parts a coat too. Now time to sit with my thumb up my .... until the varnish drys. Then the decals, wet ones at least. All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
OK, a few days off to calm down after the dry decals problems, and the varnish is well dry. So on with the other decals. Starting on the port side, as there is less to re-construct this side. The "Star and Bar settled nicely with a little help of Revells Decal Soft. The front end ones were put on as well, just to tidy up this side. Hopefully they will all bed down overnight. That is where I am leaving it for the evening. All comments welcome Simon.

BerndM
Beside that problems with these decals you are on a very good way, nice weathering, well made small parts and the will not to throw it in the corner. Great work !
rob85
Looks like your doing a great job of saving this (again! ) the transfers and paint work are looking top notch Rob
Spookytooth
Right... I finally got around to doing something rather than think about anything else other than this build.. Yes, those "dry decals" did naff me off a bit. But I sat down tonight and got some small bits done. When I removed the masking from the nose cowling, it removed some of the Grey , oh bummer, so. Masked ready for a quick dusting to blend in. The bombs were given a dab of gloss under and over the decal to see if it will conform? The U/C legs were fixed to the doors, readying them for a coat of Gloss varnish before a wash. Also the gunsight in the middle does not quite what the instructions pic looks like. So I will have a look around for that answer, hopefully. Lastly, cleaned the gun barrels off. These will be brush painted Dark Iron over Grey primer. As I said, not a lot but I feel a lot better for it. All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Good to see some progress on this, Simon! And that cowling lift-off looks just like heavy weathering ... Ciao Edited February 2, 2016 by giemme

Spookytooth
OK, I have let things slip, big time, but life gets in the way too much. After battling with the "H" decal making, I finally got one done. Not pretty I know, but with some dirt etc it should look OK from 6 feet. Also started the Port upper wing decals. Not many but one of them was a pain. Can you see which one was fun? At least I feel better for this, maybe My MOJO is coming back. All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
Cheers folks, I am back for more... Over the last couple of nights I have added a few more decals, well mainly stencils.. The left hand wing has still to have the formation ID lights cleared. There were some more stencils to go under the wings, but they were black, going onto a black surface. I tried one and could not see it. So next area was under the belly. Which only a few in numbers were little s.... Also tackled the starboard nose area. Will leave those to dry for now and continue tomorrow . All comments welcome. Simon.
