Spookytooth
As battered enough to come with chips Giemme LOL. Well, it is not blowing a gale today, so chance to get some spraying done. No colours just gloss varnish Vallejo, to seal for decals etc. Undersides. Also some small bits, including the U/C legs, they have decals to go on them to. Anyhow, while it was windy, I decided to paint Frank, but... I noticed something was not quite right. I had glued the mask on the wrong way round. . So, it looks like I will have to start again, oh b****r. Fun bits next. Decals, both dry and wet. All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Simon, I'm not sure but it looks like you still have a small blob of that stuff you used for chipping on the white stripe on the right, close to the black one. Then, I don't know if it is the macro effect or what, but it seems that you have some raised edges of paint in some places; I found that a very effective way to remove them without screwing the rest of the paint job is using a nail polishing stick, and slightly sand along those edges; might be too late, though, as you've already sprayed the clear coat. HTH Looking forward to the decals Ciao Edited November 19, 2015 by giemme

Spookytooth
OK no time like now. Gave her a black wash of the wheel bays. Rear one first. Not to bad, the main bays.... Maybe a hairy stick job ? The engine was given one too. Also a first for me.... I masked and sprayed the windscreen and canopy. They did not turn out to bad. All comments welcome. giemme
Windscreen and canopy look really neat! Same goes for the wheel wells ; what I like to do to complete the job is to do a light drybrush (or even a real brush-on) on the raised edges with a lighter version of the base color. Makes the whole thing really stand out. Just an idea Ciao
Spookytooth
Thanks Giemme, I was thinking about dry brushing, or maybe a brown earthy wash? I am quite pleased with the canopy. Simon.
Spookytooth
OK, a quick update. Due to work not much, but have sorted out the damage problem. This is what happens when your window is put in and the glass lands on your build ( May 14) Not good. So I decided to cut them all off level and insert wires instead. Also dived in to my resource box and found some 0.3 guitar string, just the job. I will try to clean up the best I can do, leaving an abutting surface for the stays to seat in. All comments welcome. giemme
Sounds a great idea, looking forward to how it turns out Next time I have my guitar strings changed, I'll ask to get the old ones back (too lazy to do the change myself ... )

Spookytooth
Typical, Gremlin LOL. Yes me in a G String, no way... Well a bit done today, not much but painfully slow. Yes, decals..... Started with the bombs, easy size . Would they settle ? NO....... Will fix tomorrow when they are dry. Next up the U/C legs ... Not to bad, after I had screamed at the bigger black ones. They would not conform with out a fight. The one on the left ended up wrinkled a bit but ...it The props next. This did turn out too bad. Now to make a template for the Star and Bar that go on the sides. All comments welcome Simon.
giemme
Tipical Academy decals, I'd say Looking good anyway What's wrong with the prop ones? They look spot on from my phone. Edit: Probably you meant to say that they didn't turn out too bad. Also, can anybody tell me what a G string is? (Aside from the guitar string) Edited November 23, 2015 by giemme
kwaterous
Nice work Simon, it's really starting to look the part. Giemme, click this link at your own risk: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-string K

Just the surface they had to go on. And no worry about the G String.... Simon.

Spookytooth
After the fun of he G string, back to business. Decals (dry ones) And woe is me... The "A" went after a bit of a struggle. The "V" though, bad words, the varnish lifted..... Will have to do some very careful work to sort that out. But the "H" went on OK. Oh , I wish they had given all the decals "wet ones" And with high winds for th next couple of days means no spraying, damn. Anyhow, I will leave it here, and let things settle and do the remedial work later. All comments welcome. Simon.
Gremlin56
This is bad luck Simon. I would let it lie for a day to dry out completely and then survey the damage. Gently, gently. catchee monkey would seem to be the tactic here: see what is still attached, see if you can attach the unattached and where can you do some sanding and spraying to remove the evidence of adventures past

I still have the "broken part" to use as a template, we will see how it goes Simon.

Personally, I'd have rather cut my own masks and painted those letters, but you know I hate decals (wet ones, don't even want to mention dry ones ) Ciao
