spfparker
Looking at Amazon.fr the Nikon body D7200 I am after is around £100 cheaper if brought from the French website (996 Euros compared to £810 in the uk). has anyone had any experience of doing this and what any additional charges there might be? I understand that the camera will be covered by the a full European Nikon warranty.....
depressed lemur
I'm no expert but I suspect that you will have to pay import duty so your bargain may not be as great. I am sure that someone will be along soon with a definitive answer.
Caution Wake Turbulence
I don't think there's any duty etc to pay within the EU. Andrew
Mark
If tax is paid in the EU country of purchase, then import duty does not apply. It only applies when purchased from outside the EU. Here's a couple of links: https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/overview http://www.vatexchange.co.uk/VAT-customs-duty-personal-imports
Skodadriver
The only downside I can think of is that you're likely to get a non-UK plug on the charger, if it comes with one. If you're saving £100 that's trivial. You shouldn't have to pay import duty within the EU. I recently bought a Samsung NX500 from the German Amazon site although I got it delivered to my sister's address in Munich, mainly because I was shortly going to visit her and it saved postage. If that hadn't been the situation I would just have got it sent directly to the UK. FWIW I had no problem registering the warranty on Samsung's UK site. bentwaters81tfw
There is no duty on cameras anyway. There is no UK market to protect. VAT is payable in the EU, whether at point of sale, or VAT free and pay on import.
