JohnT
I got the magazine with the free SAM Datafile on the F-111 and got to thinking why no 1/32 F-111? I would have thought it a fairly iconic cold war warrior and a likely subject for Trumpeter or Tamiygawa people. I suppose size migh be an issue If I read the reviews correctly the best choice for a Lakenheath F-111F would be a Hobbyboss kit? John
Giorgio N
Size sure is an issue, the 111 is a beast ! It should also be said that it's not a type in the same league as say the Tomcat or F-16 in terms of popularity. Even in the more manageable 1/48 scale we've only had very few kits: the venerable Aurora/Monogram, the Academy series (with associated chinese clones) and the recent Hobbyboss kits
mungo1974
The Turkish firm TanModel have made comments about a 1/32 Vark kit recently......so maybe we'll get lucky, there been 2 or 3 other firms over the years that have said they'll do one only for it to be a pipedream. I'd sell my soul to the devil for one....aslong as it's accurate...god forbid Trumpeter scaling up the Hobbyboss Dog's
Don McIntyre
IIRC on the FB-111A and F-111C, span would be almost two feet and about 27.5 inches long. Edited September 27, 2015 by Don McIntyre
JohnT
IIRC on the FB-111A and F-111C, San would be almost two feet and about 27.5 inches long. I'd force myself to live with that Don!
Rob G
Apart from the sheer size of the thing, you've got the added complication of the type only ever having had 2 operators, with consequently few markings options. Add in the fact that although it served the RAAF admirably, most people tend to think of it as a bit of a lemon, and it becomes easy to see why it hasn't been kitted all that often.
Radleigh
An EF-111 would be bloody tasty.
Lawnguylander
It is a sizable beast. Here is mine, with my hand as a scale reference. And a pic of a fuselage half posed with a 1/48 Aardvark fuse half Edited September 27, 2015 by Lawnguylander
