Andy Moore
Silly Putty - I remember playing with that 35 years ago as a kid, never thought it might be a modelling aid!! Is it better than using blu-tac? Personaly I think it's a lot better than blu-tac. There's non of the oilyness that you sometimes get with blu-tak and no residue left on the models. It's far more elastic and malleable too, which makes it easier to get it to conform to the surface, and once you've finished, just knead it together and it's as good as new Andy
plasmahal
I got clever putty cheap from Amazon as it's way cheaper that panzer putty and easier to get hold of that crayola silly putty. They all do the same thing.... I think I'll be doing my bandai snow speeder soon.
Hunter Rose
It wont be seen but I love the underside, the grimy patina looks excellent! Very nice chipping too andy
Andy Moore
I've not come across that clever putty before, I'll have to pick up a pot. I've put all the bits together now. After the enamel weathering was done it had a matt coat then I mixed up a dark brown/black from Tamiya and sprayed it around the engine nozzles and the blast marks on the wing and engine. I'll live with it for a day or two before I decide if I want to add any more weathering but, apart from that, it's basically done. I've still got a bit of work to do on the base before I put it all together, but it's nearly there Andy

plasmahal
A true masterclass in all aspects, especially scale effect. I have this kit and was surprised how small the model is but you wouldn't know it from your build. Edited October 17, 2015 by plasmahal
The Sheene Machine
Brilliant modelling, beautifully presented and explained. Your work will inspire many (including me) to model these subjects more often.
Andy Moore
Thanks for the comments everyone So, somewhere earlier in this wip, I mentioned that I might build a droid to add to the base And so, tonight, I'd like to introduce you to Nigel the mouse droid Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be that scared of Chewie. I think his programing may be a little defective Andy 8

Andy Moore
Thanks guys Nigel loves Nigel. I'll take this as a personal compliment. Thanks Nigel, glad you like him. I hadn't actually made the connection (at least consciously), the name just popped into my head while I was building him and seemed to stick. I suspect he may prove to be the star of the show. I can see him cameoing in other builds Andy

Andy Moore
Last few bits for the base. I didn't want the speeder to be lost behind a load of clutter but I wanted the base to look busy so hopefully these bits will do that. I'll still add a figure if I get hold of anything suitable in the future. The main thing is a (possible) generator. It could be anything really, it's just background interest. I was made from spares box bits, the main part was, If I remember, the engine block from an old Zvezda 1/35 ZIS lorry It was painted and weathered in a similar way to the support cradle. There's also a little step/platform made from some spare PE mesh panels and a Rebel issue iPad... oh... and there's Nigel. He must have slipped his restraining bolt again. It's just a case of putting it all together now Andy Edited October 20, 2015 by AndyRM101

Andy Moore
So it's all done now. Everything's on the base and the final shots are done, which I'll be uploading to RFI shortly. Thanks to everyone who's been following for all the kind words, ideas and suggestions, it's been a fun build, and remember... The Force will be with you... always Andy 15

FZ6
It's been a pleasure to follow this build. You've done this kit proud and I've found your presentation and photography particularly inspiring. By the way if you needed a suitable figure, could you adapt a Hasegawa US Navy deck crewman to go with this model maybe?
