Winsor and Newton flow improver

I really ought to start using my airbush for painting my models before I am very much older! I tend to use acrylic paints these days and gather that a flow improver can assist spraying acrylics. So some questions:

- do you add the flow improver to the paint as a type of thinner or in addition to acrylic thinner?

- how much flow improver do you add?

- can I use anything else in place of flow improver?

- should I use flow improver with a hairy stick?

Sorry to be a bit clueless on all this but I would appreciate whatever advice you can offer please.

I use W&N flow improver. It says on the bottle 1 part flow improver to 20 parts water. I also use it when using a hairy stick when trying to brush Tamiya acrylics.
