VMA131Marine
Another two weeks down the track and it would appear that another new anoucement will be made public this Friday. This has been hinted on Airffix's FB page so I suspect a bit more than just a modified new tool. Going from previous occurances it'll be about 12.00 GMT or 2200 in my part of the world. Cheers.. Dave Based on the reflected image in the part shown, it's a 1/48 P-51D Mustang (I can't totally rule out a P-47 but the P-51 fits better with the current lineup).

I agree. Mind you, I'm usually wrong at the moment! I was certain the Whitley was going to be a Hampden. Rabbit Leader
If it's anything like their 1/72 Mustang kit, it will fall together nicely in no time. So I suspect we will have an accurate wheel well and (hopefully) no panel lines on that laminar flow wing - besides the obvious ones around the ammo bays. Personally, I'd rather something a little more exciting, however the clue would suggest a NMF subject. Cheers.. Work In Progress
It's not exotic, I agree, but by the same token it would frankly be commercially negligent for them not to do a 1/48 Merlin P-51 at some point. It's one of those things you just have to have in your range if you want to be taken seriously as a manufacturer with the main must-have types covered, and it's an aircraft type ad scale that sells by the crate in all the main markets. The main alternatives, the Hasegawa and Tamiya, while still good kits, are both sufficiently long in the tooth for people to be interested in a new kit done to a high standard. The Hase is 22 years old and even the Tamiya is coming up to its 20th anniversary next year (which really makes me feel OLD)
charlie_c67
Hmmm we've had two 1:48 recently (Meteor and Defiant) I'm going for a solely 1/72 this week

Peter That would also make sense in terms of my poor relationship with the Modelling Gods as I've just bought someone else's 1/72 Mirage III

PhantomBigStu
wondering if the image is just a red (well silver) herring, so could be anything, maybe a 1/72 jet?
k5054nz
To me the reflected image looks like Duxford, so my thinking is something that's shiny and flies/has flown there: Red Bull P-38 Red Bull B-25 The Fighter Collection P-36 The Fighter Collection P-40C Hopefully whatever it is, the new Workbench is uploaded soon! I really do enjoy this.

Truro Model Builder
A P-36 would be nice, as it was used by the USAAF, the RAF, the French and Finland amongst others, and is frequently overlooked in favour of its younger brother. However, with the B-17 on its way from Airfix there could well be an 8th Air Force fighter to accompany it.

SleeperService
So it's a P-40B but not a Vampire but it is 48th Good choice, not my usual interest but I shall, of course, do my duty and get one. Meteor F.8 looking very good large and small intakes in one piece with inner duct Excellent! EDIT: Just beaten by Phil
The wooksta V2.0
Nice for those who like the scale and US stuff, plus more turnover from the US, but personally, I'm underwhelmed. Anyhoo, roll on the Shack!
Phil Evans
There's also a 1/72 B5N1 for release next year, has this been announced already? Edited September 25, 2015 by Phil Evans
AntPhillips
There's also a 1/72 B5N1 for release next year, has this been announced already? No, its a new announcement, the B5N2 variant was recently released.
Work In Progress
That's a really, really good choice. It is an important aeroplane which will appeal on both sides of the Atlantic. The only other kits in 1/48 are either completely worn out (Monogram) or seriously inaccurate (Hobbycraft reboxed by Academy, and Trumpeter). And you can do it with shark teeth, which I always like in a fighter
dpm1did1
Although I'm unlikely to buy the P-40B as I'm much more 72nd oriented I'm still happy I have the chance should I go mad one day...and same with the ongoing Meteor saga. Now the B5N1 is another matter entirely. Right scale, and just far enough from a Spit or F-16 to be unusual enough to be different without being 'odd'. .... But yes I too wish a 72nd Single seat Vamp was announced...enough operators and markings to enable a 'same but different' build.(and small and cheap enough to build multiples)
Botan
There's also a 1/72 B5N1 for release next year, has this been announced already? Yes and no, it was known that B5N1 will follow B5N2 since March, but not officially from Airfix http://www.aviationofjapan.com/2015/03/airfix-nakajima-b5n-sprue-frames.html Edited September 25, 2015 by Botan
