Wee Beastie
Thought I'd do another Russian jet, and have had this one in the stash for some time. The contents are impressive. The plastic is very well detailed, there is a small fret of PE, and the AA missiles are in there own individual blister packs too! Even the top half of the fuselage was in it's own box! There's a colour instruction booklet, and decals for 2 Russian versions. A nice touch is a colour picture card (A4 I think), depicting the box art. So if you've a suitable photo frame, it would look good hanging on the wall of your man-cave Aside from a resin PJ Productions Soviet pilot and Eduard instrument zoom set, this will an OOB build.Untitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on FlickrUntitled by ian gaskell, on Flickr

lesthegringo
Are those really the kits wheel wells, if so they're beautifully detailed It's all in the kit, I built the same one and really enjoyed it (apart from the photo etch harness). The fit is fantastic, and the level of detail is incredible. The quality of the kit was such that I will be trying to get their F-15
Wee Beastie
Are those really the kits wheel wells, if so they're beautifully detailed Yes Colin, the wheels are very well detailed, as is the whole kit. The tyres are seperate, and the wheel hubs are 2 piece, so makes painting and detailing easier. You even get a fully detailed pair of engines, with a cradle to mount one on, should you decide to model the Mig with an engine out.
CurrantBunbury
A nice touch is a colour picture card (A4 I think), depicting the box art. So if you've a suitable photo frame, it would look good hanging on the wall of your man-cave What a great inclusion! I've often wished I could keep the artwork from old boxes, but they always end up a bit bashed. This kit looks lovely, and so does the work you've done so far.

Breaker
Nice work so far, how did you find the fit of the main gear bays? I struggled when I did mine a while back.
Wee Beastie
On with some paint. Primed, pre-shaded, and camo on. The lighter grey I used Akan paint for the first time. Quite impressed. For the grey/green, I mixed Vallejo Model Air med grey, with camo green. Wee Beastie
The fruits of today's labour. Undercarriage all painted and weathered, ready to be fitted into the undercarriage bays. Untitled by ian gaskell, on Flickr Fuselage has now had most of the detail picked out, and a coat of gloss. It's now ready for the decals to be applied. Untitled by ian gaskell, on Flickr Undercarriage doors, pylons, and missiles have also had a coat of gloss. Wee Beastie
Nice work so far, how did you find the fit of the main gear bays? I struggled when I did mine a while back. I found that a bit of trimming was needed on the port and starboard bays. Nose bay was okay
Wee Beastie
looks a very nice kit. are these much better than the eduard/academy version? are those landing gear bays the kit parts? if so VERY impressed. Yep, they are the kit wheel bays. Overall, the GWH kit is very good, both in terms of fit and detail. There is the odd small fit issue, but I would say you get that with most kits. You get a small fret of PE detailing too. Not familiar with the Eduard/Academy version, but I suspect it would be okay.
Wee Beastie
Where did you score the pilot figure? He looks really good ( I say that in a non-creepy way...) M Hi Matt The pilot is a resin one, made by PJ Productions. They do a good range of modern pilots in 1/72, 1/48 & 1/32. http://www.pj-production.be/en/figures-1-48/78-481120-russian-pilot-seated-in-ac-80-90-.html To make it look more like current Russian helmets, I sanded off the tinted visor, drilled some impressions into the top of the helmet. The modern visor slides within the helmet carcase. Untitled by ian gaskell, on Flickr
