fingers
Hi, I am building a Dragon 1/35 Panther D, I've gotten to the tracks and have searched to see which way round they run, but I have found photos which support running in both directions, could they? pigsty
They could, though it was rare, usually done as an emergency measure.
fingers
They could, though it was rare, usually done as an emergency measure. Okay that's interesting. I did a count up on 30 or so images where the track direction was discernible and that came out at a 1/3 against 2/3 division. Quite a few emergencies? How do you tell the designed and thus correct orientation?
Matt182
This is the correct orientation. Note that Panther tracks were 'handed', they had a dedicated track for each side of the tank. If say the left track had to be replaced but they only had a set of right tracks, they would have to put it on backwards. This was to ensure any track pins which worked their way free did so facing the hull. At the rear of the hull there is a raised metal plate which knocks the track pins back in as they pass.
