Wez
I'm researching 141Sqn's Beaufighter Mk.VIf's when they were in 100 Group. I'm having real trouble finding photo's of their aircraft, I've seen profiles which show them an aircraft in the nightfighter MSG/DG scheme with black undersides but no photo's of the actual aircraft. I've done a search on MrGoogle and the IWM website but like all of these things, you have to search with the right words... Does anyone have any links to photo's of the actual aircraft? Any help appreciated. Wez

These aircraft were carrying the latest and very secret airborne radar, there probably would not have been any official photographs because of this, and anyone caught photographing one would have been open to a charge of espionage, which in wartime carried a death sentence! Troy Smith
The profiles are probably from the work of Martin Streetly who did a modeller's guide to 100 Group aircraft. While Selwyn is correct, the details listed in the profiles in the book imply that they were done from photos that were not published. Book not to hand to check, but pdf's used to be about...see http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234929056-info-requested-regarding-b-17-in-raf-service/#entry1160801 the depositfiles link is still up in this. This may give a bit more info or leads. hopefully others will know more.
Wez
Thanks Gents, I'm only on my phone right now, I'll try and download the PDF later, unfortunately Streetly didn't put any profiles of Beau's in Confound and Destroy (he did include Mosquito's though). Contrary to what you say though, there are plenty of photo's of 100 Group aircraft, just not Beau's, I suspect that Troy is correct in that they weren't published previously, the Serrate installation was all internal, there's no indication of any external difference (at least on a Mossie). I'll keep looking. Wez
Graham Boak
Generally speaking, there are very few photos of later-war night fighters: Beaufighters or Mosquitos, for the reason said. As I recall, the first photo of a 100 Group Lancaster ever published was not until shortly before Streetly's book (totally recommended) appeared, and had been taken from inside a hut looking out through the open door.
