Thanks for such a comprehensive answer, yes it does make sense.

John

Hi John. No problem....glad it makes sense..........now can you explain it to me!!

Looking rather splendid Stix

The pictures of the wheels could be the real thing! As will probably the whole model when you're done ;)

Thank you Nigel, that's very kind - but I'll wait and see.....I've not really weathered anything on this scale before.

Kind regards,

Stix

I had a word with William Hill and he would only offer me odds-on prices ;)

Beautiful crisp paint job, looking forward to seeing you complete the weathering

Kev

Thank you Kev. As you'll see below I've been slowly getting more done.

I had a word with William Hill and he would only offer me odds-on prices ;)

You are way too kind! .....but thank you.

Beautiful and clean work, looks excellent !

Hi Bernd. Thank you for stopping by again.

This morning I did a variety of bits and pieces - first off doing bits of weathering here and there before getting the spare tracks and spare wheels attached:

When they were not in use, the searchlights had a cover over them - so I spent a fair bit of time carefully folding and fitting one made from the foil from the top of a vitamin pill container. It was painted with Revell's Anthracite first, followed by Humbrol's Khaki and then it was finally given a dry-brushing with a lighter version of the Khaki:

I need to fit some ropes to finish making it looks like the covers are tied in place.

More weathering followed and then it was time, again, to do a few photos with the turret in place:

I did some more work on it this afternoon, primarily adding the tools. By the time I stopped, however, it was too dark for any decent photos.

More tomorrow I hope.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Kind regards,

Stix

In short: WOW !

Impressive detail work with the usual sharp looking paint job.

Thank you Bernd. I've done a lot more bits and pieces with the paintwork today but you wouldn't guess it from looking at the photos......it seems to take me a lot longer to build up the effects in this scale.

Cracking work Stix, it's turning out well mate :)

Can't wait to see more.

Dan

Thank you Dan. More on the way below!!

As above

John

Thank you John.

Yesterday afternoon I managed to add the tools on both sides:

Today's work Included adding more weathering effects on the front, including on the spare wheels;

.......and on the turret.........although it's a bit difficult to spot any difference from the previous photos:

A lot of work today was spent doing the tow cables. The kit is supposed to come with two lengths of thin cord which are cut in two to make the cables - mine only had one length. Luckily, when I showed Mrs PlaStix the problem, she realised that some of her recent clothing purchases came with similar cord that attached the sales labels. Each of these lengths was more than long enough to do the two cables for each side. They were slightly thicker but I don't think anyone would ever have noticed.

This afternoon I got the tow cables attached and I took some photos that I will upload and post tomorrow.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Kind regards,

Stix

+1 on the weathering, especially the subtle streaking on the turret, and a good tip for the cables. I'm really looking forward to building a tank again, but I think I will save it for the ' Made in Britain ' GB.

Hope you had a good weekend.

Superb weathering Stix,I have to pick up Revell,s new GR4 for my eldest tomorrow I'm totally inspired now I bet I come out with a tank for me!

Thank you Steve. Let me know what you get!

Thank you John. Hopefully you'll get two lengths of cord in your kit but, I think I've read somewhere, that they all only have the one. Mrs PlaStix's clothes came from a range at M&S but I'm sure other shops will use something similar.

Yes I did have a good weekend, thank you, and I hope you did too.

Yesterday afternoon I did do a bit more on this project, including adding the tow cables and fire extinguishers - and, because the light was quite nice, I ended up taking a few better photos of the Centurion on my Spitfire base with one of the grass mats underneath. It doesn't really look like it's in Vietnam but it's not finished yet so perhaps it was having trials in Britain at some point! I still need to add more weathering, including some Mig Mud and the machine gun for the top of the turret still needs fitting in place as do the aerials. I'm hoping I find some time to add some stowage as well!! :frantic::frantic::bounce::bounce:

So 6 days to go and possibly only three of those when I'll get chance to do anything on this - could be a bit of a close thing!

Comments and suggestions welcome.

That look's outstanding Stix, you,d have to go a long way to find a finish as good as you are achieving and that includes the dedicated Military

modelling sites and publications!

Hi Steve - thank you for your very kind comments - I'm just making it up as I go along really!.......sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I have a bit of re-doing to do!

Looking awesome Stix, but it definitely does need some dust! :coolio:

Thank you Sarge and hopefully I'll get some dust on before the end of the GB!

A truly great job there Stix.

Circumstances have precluded me joining this GB but your build is FAB!

Hope to see you next on the Made in Britain GB in January.

That's very kind Shermaniac. Yes I was hoping you were going to do one of your awesome builds of a Centurion too.........basically so I could 'borrow' your ideas!

I'm should be entering something in the MIB GB - just a matter of finding the time in amongst the other GBs I want to take part in!

That's looking superb.

Thank you Mark - that's very kind of you to say.

I hate to say it but - I told you so ;)

STUNNING :worthy::worthy:

You are way too kind Nigel but thank you!

A great piece of modelling beautifully presented :goodjob:

Kev

Hi Kev - thank you too for your very kind comments.

That is looking rather brilliant! The exhaust is probably one of the most realistic I've seen

Thank you Dubster72 for your kind comments.

I agree with all of the above.

Best wishes for Christmas

John

Cheers John and I hope you and your family are having a wonderful Christmas Day.

This morning I spent the time making up and painting some stowage for the storage area on the rear of the turret. I also got some ropes onto the cover for the spotlight:

That bin is looking suitably full Stix, you must be just about finished.

My Centurion was delivered yesterday, it's the IDF Shot version which is what I asked tor.

Hope you had a good Christmas Day.

John

Hi John,

Hope you are well. I had a lovely quiet day and managed to get some work done on this Centurion - so yes it was a good Christmas Day - thank you. I hope you had a good day too and I'm pleased you got the kit you wanted. I will be interested to follow your build when you get it started. I know very little about the Centurion in all its guises but I've recently been watching quite a few documentaries so I'm slowly catching up.

Take care and I hope you have a good Sunday.

I have done some work on this today, including adding some mud and dust, as well as adding some additional details in terms of stowage. I will try and get some photos taken and posted tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Stix
