Mark
Hi all, A quick question regarding the engine cowling panels of the Spitfire, specifically a LF.Mk.XVIe. When the engine cowlings were removed, what colour is the interior half of the panel? I can't find any definitive reference anywhere. I'm also guessing that they would be pretty grubby? logical
The colour call outs for my 24th scale engine mounts was cockpit green. So I'd hazard a guess at the cockpit green. But yes would probably be VERY grimy

Troy Smith
Hi Mark the internals of the Spitfire up to fairly late in the war were aluminium paint, apart from the cockpit. Ar some point there was a switch to grey-green. Edgar will be able to give a more precise answer, but you my want to quote the serial of the machine in question....as I type i see Edgar has pitched in, by silver he means Aluminium paint just to be clear.

Lancbuilder219
I had the privilege of working on two Spitfires at flying legends back in 05. Internal panel surfaces are, for want of a better description, aluminium. This included ammo tank and gun bay panels too.
