Rickpadwick1801 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) Hi Everyone, I have rethought my post and have limited it to just the picture of XH558 that I took yesterday. I have deleted the Facebook album from my profile and will be deleting the photos with the exception of the one below from my photobucket account as well. This photo shows the last time I will ever see Vulcan XH558 flying where she belongs : IN THE AIR. I asked the staff at the Vulcan Village to pass along my thanks to the crew for doing this flypast. I will miss the sight of this aircraft flying and will never forget her. All the best, Rick Edited August 23, 2015 by Rickpadwick1801 10
Paul J Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 With the current sad event of this weekend, your pic is surely evocative. 2
Rickpadwick1801 Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 With the current sad event of this weekend, your pic is surely evocative. Thanks Paul, The photo was taken just after she had passed over in the single fly past that she did at Shoreham yesterday.
CurrantBunbury Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Nice shot. When XH558 was at RIAT this year, the commentator quoted Dr Seuss:"Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened." I'll miss her too. 1
Panzer Vor!!! Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Where were you standing Rick? We were near the Blenheim just past the corner Brilliant pic Damp eyes as she flew by 1
Rickpadwick1801 Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Where were you standing Rick? We were near the Blenheim just past the corner Brilliant pic Damp eyes as she flew by I could see the Blenheim from where I was standing, almost directly opposite the Vulcan Village (which is normally in the centre of the flight line). I also had damp eyes when she went past, I still do whenever I think about the circumstances she flew past in. Glad you liked the picture.
HOUSTON Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Very poignant of the STUNNING Vulcan seeing what happened.. Tears for everyone.. Rest in Peace to those who lost their lives.. And those who witnessed it like yourself Rick and the others, I hope you are all well. 1
Mark Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I'm desperately trying to sort out a visit to the UK to see her in the air. trying to juggle work and family etc. But until then, I'll have to make do with your excellent photo! Thanks for posting and my thoughts are also with those who were affected in any way by the recent events. 1
Rickpadwick1801 Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Thanks guys, It was very shocking to see this accident happen. Mark, as you are trying to see her in the air before she stop flying, here is a link to some more photos of 558 in the air, this time taken from Eastbourne beach during the airshow 2 weeks ago. Here's the link : https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.488656594634727.1073741851.100004711722357&type=1&l=0724244a56 I would imagine everyone might find some more photos in there that they like as I have got Chinook, P-51, Sea King, Blenheim, MiG-15....all sorts of stuff..... If anyone would like high resolution photos, please PM me your e-mail address and I will send them as I still have the original files. All the best, Richard
