Airfix Beaufighter (new tool) and Hurricane MkIIc SEAC 1/72

Recommended Posts

Being its my wife and my 9th wedding anniversary, its going to be a struggle to get any more done today, I have booked us a day away in a B&B tomorrow, so I might bribe her with that so I can try and get the gloss cote on today, so it will be drying while we are away and I get all day Saturday for a decaling session

Oooh, you old romantic you.

Ok, back from the weekend away, picked up a good kit in Plymouth while I was there, a Trumpeter 1/72 SU-24 Fencer (have a love of modern Russian aircraft).

But was back today and managed to get a decal session in before bed, it might not be 100% in the right spot, but to me, these two look ok

will finish all the decals tomorrow and get them sealed in with a gloss cote before I start to weather them both

As above,......they both look great with the decals on,......nearly there now!

Not your fault at all,..but pity the Airfix Hurricane prop blades look really short,......what a daft gaff for them to make.

Cheers

Tony

ok, guys have an update and I'm sure your all looking forward to seeing these two complete and I have finished.........the hurricane.

Beau needs a wash and some panel highlighting, a matt cote and weapons attaching, will be finished Monday without fail.

Quick picture below, but I'll get some better shots once the Beau is finished and in some better light.

So guys, here we are, at the end of this short project.

I have to say, that the Beaufighter was a pure joy to build, no fit issues for me, it just fell together. I might be a little out on the camo of the Beaufighter, Airfix made some errors on the painting instructions and had to look around for the best reference as I could find, using other Beaufighter builds online, which I could on find one in SEAC markings. But in all, it looks good to me.

In regards to the hurricane, it offered no issues as all and was very a straight forward simple build. Got these just in time for my home model show West Cornwall Model show in Camborne college in Cornwall, if your around, you can always get a peak at them.

anyway, here is a picture of the 2 together, I'll be making a RFI post shortly and include a link here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234988211-airfix-172-beaufighter-new-tool-seac-with-a-friend-picture-heavy/

Beautiful. Love the white things in contrast to the camo scheme. Well weathered and shaded. :goodjob:

The white things are identification markings so pilots could identify friendly aircraft during combat. It's more or less SEAC's version of D-day strips
