Airfix Warrior 1/48 (and the rest of the family...)

Recommended Posts

Hi

Here's an OOB Warrior, and my first model painted with an airbrush.

I followed some suggestions from fellow Britmodellers and bought the Revell Basic Airbrush set - works just fine.

I had rubbish results using thinned Humbrol acrylics, so bought Vallejo Model Air paints instead - they seem to work great, but smell a bit funny (I wear a mask now!).

Hope you like 'em:

very nice! great job on weathering and detail work

I think Airfix did a great job on releasing this set! I am not sure how well these are selling outside of their home market...

the Merlin is missing ;)

I personally would also like to see a Challenger II (I know, not in Afghanistan...) but would be great!

Thanks all for the kind comments!

A snatch Landy and a second WMIK are in progress...

To be followed by a Revell Apache...

The Airfix Merlin would be nice, but it looks massive & costs ~ ยฃ60!

And a Chinook is on the wish list too. Not sure if Airfix do one.

Revell reboxed the Italeri Chinook as a HC1 (or 3? what would be the difference modeling wise?)

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/106172-revell-04641-chinook-hc-mk-1

Itaelri does several variants (spare the new F and G model)

HC3/ HC5 have bigger sponsons for more fuel, I think they are not provided anywhere as of now...

it is massive again!

here a nice build thread:

I'm probably more tempted by the Chinook than the Merlin - I love an old, well-worn workhorse!

I'll look into the Italeri one...

A Merlin is in progress (slowly)...

I'd like to complete the set with:

Scimitar

Warthog/Viking

Bulldog

Panther

Husky

Maybe one day I'll be able to source them!

Any ideas...?

I'm sure you know that Takom do two Bulldog variants in 1/35 and S&M models do an fv432 in 1/76.
