Airfix 1/72 Boulton Paul Defiant

Recommended Posts

So, my first airfix kit in ages, and must say first of all, kit went together like a dream. But so many issues on this of my own making and a terribly finished kit, so i'm only putting this here in the hope I can get some tips to help.

First, no matter out much sanding I could not get rid of center line seams on fuselage, never had the issue before.

Seconds, Grainy finish on the kit with raised lumps either odd big ones or small clusters, which took several gloss cotes to get rid of.

Third, peeling of paint in areas of wing joint (not the paint chipping) that is deliberate although might not be correct for this aircraft.

Fourth, too much gloss caused issues with masking and when removing masking on clear parts pulled paint off frames.

So yeah, some issue, but here is some pics

I've gone and purchased another one of these, as I want a 2nd shot at one, I know I can do so much better.

And a rather splendid one it is too. Given all your trials of late, that is a triumph and you should be proud of it.
