renzo
Hi everybody, To realize the German WWII radio truck I have at disposition the old kit Verlinden and set for instrument blazers from Archer driver for cabin. Probably the intenction of Italeri was not to show the interior of radio compartiment thats why it was full of signs of extractors. They were so many that it took me a few days to fill and smooth the walls and roof. To give more diffent shades I used first some Streaking grem from AK and after it was dry I used watercolor pencils. Now I started with driver cabin. I painted all the inside with Tamiya XF-60. The seast was painted with Gunze color H47. Once finished the wetheting inside, I glued all the parts and the cabin was ready to be Painted. I did it with same XF-60 and then I and I lightened and darkened the color of the base so as to give the various shadings. With a small brush and brown very dark from Vallejo, I reproduce the paint chips on the cabin. The chassis has been plastered all over to cover signs of withdrawal and extractors on plastic. After sanding, I painted all with XF-60 and washed with A-MIG brown color. Same treatment for the wheel rims and tires, printed in ' rubber '. To the tires I applyed cote of MIG pigments to simulate the dirt wedged in the tread. The same treatment to the base of the cabin compartment radio , then painted with XF-60 and then weathered with brown wash.I homebuilt the luggage rack on the roof of the cab radio . I added some hooks of copper to simulate the hooks for ropes. Now I have finished the inside of the cab radio tracing the marks of doors and window frames . I painted the walls in various shades of white and dark brown floor to create depth after installing the grid walkway. The table and the shelves were resin kit from Verlinden . The table was folded so I used a sheet of plastic card and I did it new .Then I colored all parts with a base made by color Tamiya colors XF - 3 XF - 7 XF - 64. After that I used Tamiya tapeand I cut irregular waves to imitate the wood grain . I airbrushed with brown various waves to simulate the wood grain.
renzo
Now I have tried various positions to see how to proceed in a certain order . I also tried the grids in etching for the floor Radios were a disaster ! Many were paper thin and the resin was broken . I had to redo some pieces to fix them. I then tried placements and I started to glue the supports for the safety straps that ensured the radio shelves. I painted the radio that fortunately I had found in a website dedicated to collectors of relics of IIWW . Now I can quietly assemble everything and give a kind of 'harmony' to the scene. Below pictures of the finished work in the cab radio Thise is the right side wall that has been glued to last.
renzo
As for the cab driver the structure outside cab radio has undergone the same treatment of paint and weathering . The roof of course was not fixed so you can be able to see inside . I finished the cab driver by applying the transparent and put a bit of dirt . end of works. little walk around. One thin more. The big and very complex antenna in the back of the truch is from Italeri (modified) because I was not able to use the one in Verlinden kit. First the resin parts were all bent and the instruction........oh boy impossible to nderstand!

renzo
I agree that is museum quality, outstanding craftsmanship. The boots really set off for me, how did you make them? First of all Thanks. The boots are two feets cutted from a soldier and with a drill I made the holes. Then with plastic glue Tamiya green cap I went inside to soften plastics . I waited a few minutes then with a toothpick I expanded the upper part of the shoe .

Wheels
Some of the military vehicles on here are built to a very good standard, but this is the best I have seen. The level of detail and weathering is brilliant. It looks more like a real vehicle than a model. Definitely built to museum standard. Well done, they don't come much better than this.
