85sqn
Hell everyone, I thought I would draw attention to a project that I am loosely involved with but one of my friends is more closely involved. It is the restoration of a Hawker Typhoon MkI, serial RB396. The project is in an embryonic stage at the moment but some very exciting news is due to be revealed shortly. At the moment the project contains many individual parts, namely the fuselage, elevators, undercarriage and many small items plus a large amount of the aircraft drawings. The project will soon become a charity enabling donations but at the moment the greatest task is locating as many parts as possible, in particular a set of wings and cockpit. More information on the project can be found at: www.hawkertyphoon.com And the facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/hawkertyphoonRB396?ref=ts&fref=ts

Max Headroom
This looks rather interesting to say the least. Will it be static, a runner or a flyer? Or will that be part of the news? Trevor
85sqn
The intention is to fully restore it to flying condition and display it at airshows etc. Some way off yet but the project has been making good progress. Thanks for your interest!
woody37
Wow, I don't think I'm alone in being excited about seeing a Tiffie take to the air. Will you be applying some modern materials technology to the engine to improve reliability?
upnorth
Sounds great! My hat goes off to anyone with the guts to start up a Napier Sabre for any reason.
Max Headroom
There is a Tempest V restoration on the go at the moment and the lack of a flight cleared Sabre is also a limiting factor for them. Trevor
