jrlx
Hi again, Here's an update on the progress done over the last two weeks. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I didn't manage to update the thread recently. Anyway, this one was not expected to be finished in time for the BoB GB, as I was expecting vacform transparent parts and Eduard's MG 15s to improve the detail of the model and these only arrived at my LHS in the last week of October. Anyway, I'll continue the work here, in the KUTA GB. As explained in my Wick's Bf 109 thread, I did weathering work on my builds, including the Dornier. But before starting the weathering steps, I had to do some preparatory work. First, I repaired the painting on this lateral console, which had been damaged when carving out some raised detail in order to apply the PE panel: IMAG2882 Next, I glued the control stick in front of the pilot's seat: IMAG2883 Finally, I assembled the instrument panel, which is made up of four PE parts, as shown in the following pictures: IMAG2884 IMAG2885 IMAG2886 IMAG2887 The cabling on the back of the panel still has to be applied. Weathering was then applied as described in the above link. After the flat-coat application, I had to apply Alclad's Semi-Matte coat to the machine guns' cartridges, in order to re-establish some metallic sheen. This was done with a paintbrush. Here are the finalised consoles: IMAG2926 IMAG2927 IMAG2928 The pilot's seat. Seatbelts yet to be applied: IMAG2930 The other seats: IMAG2931 IMAG2932 I don't know what's the purpose of this but it also goes in the cockpit: IMAG2933 The inner starboard cockpit wall: IMAG2935 The inner port cockpit wall (some 13 levers in PE yet to be applied...): IMAG2937 The inner walls of the bomb bay: IMAG2936 IMAG2938 To finish with, Aqua Gloss was applied to the dials of the instrument panel, to simulate the covering glasses of the instruments: IMAG2934 That's all for now. Thanks for looking. Jaime
Roy vd M.
I don't know what's the purpose of this but it also goes in the cockpit: The wheel is the manual control for the four bomb bay doors. The photo etch is an oxygen regulator bucket. I really like the progress I'm seeing. The only thing I would consider adding is a bit of oil paint to the PE radio panels, rub it a bit and remove with thumb. It's a matter of 1 minute per panel and it takes away the glittering + provides for a more realistic color. But of course it's your build and, as said, I like it!

I'm now working on my entry to the Helicopters GB, a Vietnam War Marines AH-1G Cobra. I hope I'll be able to finish it by early August. Then I'll resume work on the Do 17.
