Hi Guys,

I hope I'm doing this right!

New/current tool Airfix 1/72 Spitfire 1a

Humbrol enamels

Zvezda Ju-88 crew figure modded for a pilot

A mix of kit decals - excellent, but incomplete, the gift set doesn't include maintenance stencils or wing walkway lines & Xtradecal decals - not quite so excellent, much thicker & reluctant to conform

Airfix Messerschmitt Bf109

1/72

The Bf 109 as flown by Hauptmann Helmut Wick shortly after his promotion to 1/JG2, and as this aircraft moved with him, I've depicted his plane as

still having the white top of the tail with the victory markings, before being painted to match the rest of the yellow markings.

Figures are the excellent Zvezda German Aircrew figures.

All brush painted using Humbrol Enamels.

Decals are mixture of Airfix, Superscale and E.D.Models

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.1A, R6626, 'XT-Y' flown by Flt Off Ron 'Ras' Berry of 603 Squadron, RAF Hornchurch - 31 August 1940.

"On 31 August 1940, Flt. Off. Berry took off from RAF Hornchurch just before 1800 to intercept an incoming raid. The pilots of 604 Sqn intercepted the escorts of I/JG3 over South London. In a confused, running dogfight Flt Off Berry caught and shot down the Messerschmitt Bf109 flown by Oblt Helmut Rau at 1845. The 109 landed on the beach at Shoeburyness where the pilot was taken prisoner unhurt".

Ron Berry served with distinction through the war and after with the RAF and rose to the rank of Air Commodore. You can read his remarkable obit here

I got the build just done by midnight and thanks to the lads for letting me post pictures here. To recap:

Build: Mostly OOB

Extras: Tapes for seat belts, cut out cockpit hatch, replacement vacform canopy

Paints: Revell Aquacolours brush painted. Future, W&N Matt Varnish, Flory Models wash

First can I say thanks to the organisers for running this GB, it was great fun.

My first build for this GB was a 235 Squadron machine which engaged a large number of Stukas following their attack on Thorney Island on August 18th 1940.
