My first completion; the Italeri 1/72 Fiat CR.42 Falco representing number '9' of the 85. Squadriglia of the 18. Gruppo Caccia (Fighter Group) commanded by Maggiore Feruccio Vosilla and based at Ursel in Belgium as part of the Corpo Aereo Italiano, October 1940.

The kit was built almost OOB with the addition of Eduard's seat harness and a small amount of EZ-line for the rigging. Paints used were Alclad Semi-Matt Aluminium and Sovereign Colourcoats Giallo Mimetico 4, Marron Mimetico 2 and Verde Mimetico 3 from their Regia Aeronautica range. Transfers were from the DP Casper Forgotten Operations: Operation Cinzano set.

Build thread here.

Cheers,

Stew

Ian 'Widge' Gleed's No. 87 Squadron RAF Hawker Hurricane Mk I from the Airfix 1/72 kit (Battle of Britain Experience set)

OOB as usual for me (apart from the markings of course and a bit of fiddling). Build thread here.

"May it not also be that the cause of civilisation itself will be defended by the skill and devotion of a few thousand airmen? There has never been, I suppose, in all the world, in all the history of war, such an opportunity for youth. The Knights of the Round Table, the Crusaders, all fall back into the past - not only distant but prosaic; these young men, going forth every morn to guard their native land and all that we stand for, holding in their hands these instruments of colossal and shattering power, of whom it may be said that

Every morn bought forth a noble chance

And every chance bought forth a noble knight,

deserve our gratitude, as do all the brave men who, in so many ways and on so many occasions, are ready, and continue ready to give life and all for their native land."

May I present P/O Ken Mackenzie 07 Oct 1940 after the first sortie of the day, waiting for the second & his date with destiny.

Airfix BF109E 1/72 in the marks of 3/JG2 flown by Ofw Bernhard Lempskemper and brought down over England on the 29th August. I used Tamiya and Xtracrylix paints, Xtradecals, Quickboost exhausts and Eduard masks. Thoroughly enjoyable!
