momo88
I was wondering if anyone had some pointers on how I could create a rust effect beneath a white topcoat. I have been the salt method but this was with darker colours, which allowed for the top coat to be applied with no discouloring to it (if that makes sense). I am worried that if I put an red/brown colour with a white top coat that the white will look slightly pink? Hope someone can give me some advice! Thanks, Mo
arfa1983
Have a look at the "hairspray method".

cathasatail
I might be a bit late but I have found that spraying (if you have an airbursh) the white over the rust effect tends not to make it pink, I use the Vallejo acryllic air series and they are superb and can be added in very thin layers to build up the effect you desire. From my experimentation, if you get to a polished copper colour for the rust, that has the strong possibility of going a slight shade of pink.
