New 1/48 Buccaneer Decals

Bought a set of these to help complete a S2B in medium sea grey of 12 Squadron. The artwork is really goods and surpasses what was already out there. I photographed the Gulf War Buccaneers with nose art on the flightline at RAF Lossiemouth in 1991, and these decals compare well to the photos.

I've bought a set too Andy as I have the kit in the stash and have been waiting to build it in grey scheme but holding off due to the lack off decals. Well pleased with them, wonder if they'll release anymore!

What recent Bucc related news ????

This news was posted today in the Kitstarter forum by the administrator:

" 1/48 Buccaneer: Inherent quality problem with the fuselage mouldings."

"I have heard back from our Development team and, unfortunately, it will not be possible to add this tooling to KitStarter. This is because there is an inherent quality problem with the fuselage mouldings."

Sounds rather official too.

Hi Muzz,

I'm just coming to the end of my build. I too have done mine in the final colour scheme of medium sea grey. I have just bought the Eduard interior etched stuff (48-132) primarily for the canpoy seals and rails. However, have a read at my thread on missing instructions. This is a great kit which requires a great deal of attention, but it is worth it.

Regards

Andy

Hmm, there is a whole world of difference between 'The molds are damaged beyond repair' and ''we won't be adding it to kitstarter because of a quality problem"....

Peter

I know.

I was just being a nuisance.

Perhaps the real problem with the Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer was that it drove most builders to the point of looney-tunes in their effort to get something decent out of it.

Once you followed the simple steps I described (I found these steps here, BTW), you got something quite decent with a rather small effort, so...
