Airfix 1/48 Spitfire and Hurricane new tool

Recommended Posts

These were two of the finest kits i have ever built. They are beautiful kits. They are both built straight from the box with the exeption of belts in the hurricane. The undersides and earth were airbrushed but the green was brush painted. That was a pain. The Tamiya paints airbrush beautifully , but not so good on the brush painting side i n my experience. I wish i could take better photos , they really dont do the complete models justice. My only small bugbear was the undercarriage on the spitfire. They could have been mounted better.

Cue the Battle of Britain music!

They've both come up a real treat and I really like the subtle weathering... just enough without being over done.

I reckon your'e colours have come up nicely as well - Would you mind telling us what Green, Brown and Sky was used?

Cheers and congrats on two great builds... Dave.

These are both beautiful, Airfix really are on a roll just now. I've a Mk.Vb Spit on the go and a Mk.1 in the queue, if I can finish these to anywhere near this standard I'd be over the moon.

Totally agree with you about brush painting Tamiya too, I just can't get to grips with it. Always seems to dry so fast, and God forbid you should go over a bit twice . In the airbrush however,......sweeeet!

Outstanding work, really nice.
