Every time someone posts here (without anything to say) my heart beats fast, expecting to see something like "F-14 released!".

So, please don't do this to me. I am within the dangerous zone of 45 to 55 for a heart attack!

Ta!

1/48 New Tool “easy to build” F-14A, B and D Tomcat is, as you will know, underway and AMK HQ is looking for your input into the decal options and schemes. So, lets have some ideas about what you like and then we will shortlist some of them into a poll in a couple of weeks. If we coincide the deadline for your preferred decal options with the end of the MIG-31 competition on 14th May, then that would make life easier.
Please post your poll and pictures (taking care with copyrighted photos please) below.

Thank you all sincerely for the kind support you have all shown on other F-14 Tomcat threads.

The one thing that will remain the greatest thing out of all of this is that the modeler (me too) will very soon get a great choice and “you pays your money” as they say. We have always been about the modeler in our company and this is great news for us all alike. We get to choose what we want for our budget, expectations and quest for quality. Competition just makes us all better right?

I can’t go into all the details we are going to include with the AMK F-14 series just yet but you can be assured of some things:

The AMK F-14 will contain new technologies just like the MiG-31’s. But we will go further than that for this kit. One piece missiles and weapons will be included (of course). Slide mold techniques will be used for weapons and some kit parts again. Flight surfaces will be posable (for take off or landing dioramas), great engineering which will make this kit a joy to build (our “Easy to Build” ethos). Decals will be of an extremely high standard and the finest quality materials used for both the tools and plastic.

We are also working with a secret partner to ensure that this kit is as good as it warrants to be. More on that in due course.

Now, Mr Sio and the team in Macao are working very hard to bring this to you but, as always, we intend only to bring this to market when we (and our specialist advisors) are happy that the kit is as good as it can possibly be. If this means we are later than others then so be it. If we are earlier this means nothing either, it just means we are happier sooner.

Thanks again for your support and patience friends.

Cheers.

It makes no difference when it will come out, as I will definitely buy both F-14s. An article to comparing the two releases is so tempting!

But please, please, please, do not forget the L-39 too.

Thanks for keeping us updated. It means a lot.

Superb ethos, I'm sure you'll do very well with this kit, time has proved that there's room for more than one manufacturer releasing any given aircraft type, especially one as popular as the Tomcat, after all for years we've had the Hasegawa, Academy, Revellogram and Italeri kits in 1/48 but they are all getting long in the tooth and all have their own inadequacies.

There's a parallel with the Super Hornet in 1/48, the Hasegawa kit has dropped flaps etc but only very basic armament options, and the Revellogram one doesn't have the flaps but does have a better selection of underwing stores, at the end of the day as you said, you pay your pennies and make your choice.

As I said in the Tamiya Tomcat thread.........one area where AMK can improve over that kit is doing the various wing lights etc in clear plastic.

Things like that should be standard now. Tamiya's also brought out some tanks recently with solid headlights instead of the appropriate clear ones. Ridiculous!

Oh I think so.....

Then it could be useful to contact John R. Chesire, or at least to have a look at his webpage, as he was with VF-1 in 1976, so shortly after the Tomcat first combat cruise.

I had the privilege to exchange mails with him for a while, a very nice man really.
