looking good standing there on it,s own Julian I might just be tempted to get some of that wash stuff at Telford myself I normally just use thinned down oils but these things might help speed up some of my builds along the way

I think this is thinned enamels Keith, works well though

This is looking excellent! It must be pretty big once assembled?

Oh, and to echo the other comments, Ammo stuff is awesome!

Hi Matt, thats a long time ago you popped in  Did you ever manage to finish your Bf 109?

Looks fantastic, Julian. Cracking Ju 88 !

Thank you Bernd, just in the process of turning it into a dirty and well used bird :coolio:

Bernd, John,

Thanks guys, here is some more progress:

Working on the under wing exhaust stains. The wing has had its first dot oil wash, (think it will need another). Bombs are fitted.

Still more work needed though :coolio:

Definitely big mate, and so nice too.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The exhaust staining looks quite restrained, considering how much use and abuse these birds got.

Simon.

Thanks Simon, I think at this stage of the war there was still time and space for sufficient maintenance. I always get the impression that the exhaust stains are burnt into the aircraft so subtle is a must.

Very nice indeed, your exhaust staining has to be some of the most life like I have seen...

Rob

Thank you Rob, that's the sort of comment I really appreciate. Means I have been able to put my idea of how the bird should look on line.

Coming to life now mate!

Kev

Thanks Kev,

Less toy like at a certain point isn't it?

30/10 update:

Dirtying the beast. Oil washes:

No prizes for guessing what this is:

Still squeaky clean and a long road to travel yet. Filipe's excellent build gave the push in the direction of this "Stash prisoner".

To my utter disgust I see some silvering on the decals on the starboard wing near a filler cap. Can't have that :yikes:

The oil washes look like they're creating the right appearance. Very nice!

With regards your question - if there's no prize I'm not guessing!!

(Wouldn't have a clue anyway - it doesn't appear to be a Spitfire!! ;-)

Hope you manage to out the silvering decals!

Kind regards,

Stix

Absolutely fantastic work Gremlin !

I love the paint scheme and you have executed it perfectly, the weathering is really adding to the realism and bringing it to life.

Well done for adding all the stencils, I'm ashamed to say I let the side down on that front with my one
