Rabbit Leader
All, I've just taken another look at the DK decals main website and they have now included the latest images of their five newest 1/72 decal sheets. 72014 - B-17 Flying Fortress in the Pacific. http://www.dkdecals.cz/B17_pacific_navod1.jpg 72015 - B-17 Flying Fortress in RAF & RCAF service http://www.dkdecals.cz/B17_RAF_navod1.jpg 72016 - 100 Group RAF http://www.dkdecals.cz/100GR_navod.jpg 72017 - B-24 in RAF & Commonwealth service http://www.dkdecals.cz/B24_RAF_navod.jpg 72018 - No. 311 Sqd. RAF http://www.dkdecals.cz/311_navod.jpg I especially like the 100 group subjects and have both books penned by Martin Streetly in my personal Library. I also have some of the earlier RAAF sheets and can honestly say that these are very nice decals indeed. Cheers .. James Taylor
I think the 100 Group sheet will be exceptionally popular - so many options on the one sheet for different aircraft!
Truro Model Builder
One or two nice options for the Fortress I, including that interesting one with the black undersurfaces that is not in the Italeri kit.
Rabbit Leader
One or two nice options for the Fortress I, including that interesting one with the black undersurfaces that is not in the Italeri kit. Can anyone shed some light on some of those Fortress Squadron codes? I was of the opinion that only No.90 Squadron (WP) operated these as part of No. 2 Group Bomber Command. The MB & VX codes have me stumped... Cheers .. Dave.
Ed Russell
MB & VX 220 and 206 RAAF Liberators coming soon too
Rabbit Leader
RAAF Liberators coming soon too That's excellent news Ed and thanks for the squadrons (almost forgot about Coastal Command!) Any more clues to other subjects ?? Cheers.. Dave.
Ed Russell
We have had a few requests for the Ampol Mosquito in 1/48 http://www.edcoatescollection.com/ac1/austcl/VH-KLG.html but there's not much point without appropriate engines so we're waiting until someone does them. tonyot
Great news about the RAAF Libs on the way too,......DK certainly provide some much needed subjects and the research is great too. The black bellied Fortress I with the white tail was used for conversion training by the 100 Group crews prior to the arrival of their own ex USAAF B-17F`s which were later augmented by B-17G Fortress III`s. Cheers Tony

Hiya Ed, Doesn`t the Airfix Mossie cover the engines? The PR,41 did have twin stage Merlins didn`t it? Cheers Tony

Honeybee
Hi I'd like to know where they got their info. I am building at present a 48th scale B17F, it's in Olive Drab and Black, coded BU C. Before it got codes it was in USAAF colurs OD and Grey undersides. There are markings for such a marked a/c on the second sheet at the bottom. It is shown without the upper turret but with the obs blister on the nose. I have been unable to find a picture with the obs blister but have one with an upper turret, the opposite to the sheet and how I am building mine. Sods law comes into effect again but who is right. Having never used this company before does anyone know how good their research is? On the other hand there are a few beauties on the 100 group sheet, Regards Paul
Rabbit Leader
Honeybee (Paul), Regarding DK's accuracy.. I do believe that this company did delay and change some of their earlier RAAF sheets when it had been mentioned that previous items were not quite correct. The good thing is that they consulted and (it would apprear) listened to these more knowledgable folk in order to get things right. Someone here may have closer links to their researchers, and hopefully solve your query. The quality of the decals is second to none. Cheers.. Dave. Rabbit Leader
I like the look of the 100 group decals. Can someone tell me where to get them in the UK? I know that Hannants do currently stock DK decals, however the 100 Group sheet (plus all others noted in the OP) are future planned releases - so you might need to hold fire for a while. I posted these to just whet your appetite!! Cheers.. Dave.
datguy
It's too bad they didn't include one of the 515 Sqn Radio Countermeasures Moonshine Defiants in the 100 Group sheet.
