cmatthewbacon
So, I've got Microsol and Microset, and some Daco setting solution. How do I go about removing old decals? Make a good puddle on top and leave it for a few hours? Or am I better off with sellotape? Any tips from anyone who's done it much appreciated! Bestest, M. RODH2
I use masking tape first, (not Tamiya) and then puddled "Mr Mark Softer". Sometimes they can be "persistent"........
Nigel Heath
I have used clear sticky tape (I think its got stronger adhesive than masking tape). Its very hit and miss though in my experience.
Jon Kunac-Tabinor
I've always just wet sanded them off using a fine sanding stick and plenty of water - but Im assuming you want to keep the surface finish beneath intact - so that may be a non-starter? I've tried tape too - but find it frustratingly inconsistent Jonners
Mike
Setting solution doesn't seem to have any effect on decals once they're set in my experience. I'd be looking to sand 'em back & repaint, although I might try some strong tape, but then you run the risk of ripping off the paint, especially if you use acrylic. Ace From Outer Space
In the past I have used a pin to score the surface of the decal and then applied softening solution. By breaking the skin of the decal the softener can penetrate and start lifting off the decal. Then slide a soft brush underneath and prize away...
