Planebuilder62
Will you be shortenibg the nose undercarriage leg? Revell Tonka's always stick their noses up which doesn't look right unless corrected. Shortening in fact :-)
Tim Moff
Lol the easy answer to that is no - it's being built wheels up😂 - advice taken for any future wheels down builds!!
Tim Moff
Back from the USSR (ok alright then Russia!) Got some more building done, fun with the fuse of front and rear (had to file a few of the guide notches etc!) - rear tailplane off so that will have to go on with superglue!! Will try to get some more done, but am going to RIAT on Sunday, soon off on my hols too!

Tim Moff
To add I'm looking at the 13 Sqn airframe as someone is doing 2 Sqn, they painted the grey white rather than the green. I have been kindly helped with decals.
Tim Moff
A bit of work to get the main build finished: Got the resin IRLS pod on. Got the engine parts painted, canopy coated in Klear, masked and put on with Cristal Klear. Quick brush paint of the frames for the inner colour. Rails on for the 2 extra fuel tanks: Rest of the Ae's, ILS thingies on the tail, etc etc will go on after the main build is complete. Ready to prime, preshade and am trying the Mr Color paints again as they worked well on the F4G build. Not sure how you can get shades with white?! However it was a temp spray over the grey so not too bothered. Will tru a bit of tonal work on the centre of the green panels by slightly lightening the paint. Thanks for looking.

Jabba
A lot of work has gone on here Tim, and the results are pleasing to say the least.
Tim Moff
Primed and pre-shaded, white on: Then the mammoth blu-tac and masking tape sage.....also hard to see exactly where demarcation was, so done my best!! For the white, I shot on some Mr Color LAG for some tonal differences first - then lightly sprayed a well thinned Mr Color white. I had sprayed the black nose, anti glare, pods etc when I pre-shaded. Just gotta wait for my Mr Color RAF paints to arrive!!
Tim Moff
Got the green on: Need to touch up in places, complete the detail painting, black areas etc, be ready for Klear and decals. Edited August 2, 2015 by Tim Moff
Tim Moff
Got the detail painting done, and got 2 coats of Klear on. The aim was to have the airframe modelled at the end of its Exercise at Bardufoss, Norway in the winter of late 1992/early 1993. Therefore I use a sponge and some DSG to simulate the paint flaking on the aircraft, particularly in the areas that received the most wear, as well as the tanks etc. I have also left 1 of the 4 tanks in DG/DSG. I spent 5 winters in Norway with 3 PARA from 1996 to 2000, 3 of them included Arctic Circle deployments and I remember the Tornado deployments, as well as the Puma helicopters that we used, being well worn vy the time March came around. So the white looks worn and tatty, as will the tanks etc. Next will be decaling. Will also try to weather the exhaust stain area around the tail - will experiment with some pastels, may even try Tamiya smoke! Tim Moff
OK - so was going to start the decals, when I realise the Sqn Fin tip decal kindly supplied by Jabba does not have the blue fin colour, so will need to paint it. Am going to use roundal blue as pics show it to be the same colour? http://www.airport-data.com/images/aircraft/small/000/609/609616.jpg Jabba - do you have the colour on the old instructions? Tim Moff
mammoth decal session, got most done. Starting to come alive now: Minor stencils went onto the green areas only, as the white was painted over, I used references as best possible for the major stencils. Few issues with broken stencils, the M and serial number sort of crumbled - will look through my 1/72 spares. I managed to make up the serial number from others in the MA set. Need to finish off and seal....now decals are on I am hoping the paint flake effect is more in proportion!!
