NeOmega Yak 18 vs MicroMir kit - Copied without permission

Recommended Posts

These photos show MicroMir used several elements from the NeOmega Resin kit without our permission.

It has been discovered that the Micro Mir 1/48 model of Yak-18 is in fact an illegal copy of the NeOmega Resin Yak-18 kit produced some 2 years ago. It has been recognised as the illegal copy by the Russian modeller who made the master copy of this model for NeOmega Resin and who is very familiar with all the features of the model; it's construction design, assembly breakdown and even slight modelling flaws incorporated into the NeOmega model. These are all simply copied by Micro Mir and present in "their" model. It should also be pointed out that this is not the first instance of Micro Mir caught on stealing others property. Their 1/72 Yak Ut-1 is an illegal copy of the Master Club resin kit. Their La-9 and La-11 in 1/48 are both illegal copies of Scale Bureau resin kits of the same aircraft.

Unfortunately there is a little that a small company such as NeOmega can do to protect its rights violated by a bigger company other than bringing this to the public and modelling society and warning them that this has happened. We all should respect each other achievements and property and while some may choose not to care about this, we hope that the majority will choose to support us and will vote with their wallet refusing to buy Micro Mir models in question.

We often become witnesses of similar things occurring to other companies and modellers and in the words of the Arts and Crafts designer John Ruskin - “There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey.”

We hope you choose to support us and pass the word to others..

NeOmega original resin kit.

The panels are identical in size and shape.

Small switch panels are direct copies from NeOmega parts.

Console details and propellor shapes are identical.

The cockpit floor and radio tray are identical in size.

The prop inlet is the same.

Even the cooling slots that were erroneously scribed are reproduced.
