G'day people,

I have just finished this little guy. I built it for my club's F-16 build challenge. The turned brass pitot and alpha probes are aftermarket as well.

The kit includes a pair of AIM-9's but the details were a little chunky so I swapped the kit supplied one for a better item from Hasegawa's weapon sets, which also supplied the TACTS pod.

The driver received some seat harnesses but apart from a re-positioned head was otherwise stock.

I kept the weathering pretty light as these birds looked pretty well maintained. Most of the grime was limited to the lower fuselage aft of the main wheel bay

Hi Pappy,

that -16 scrubs beautifully!

Actually the first model I have seen of the Viper in Navy guise, and it is rather smashing.

Beautiful job on the pilot, by the way.

Well done.

Thanks very much. This Viper was the original Top Gun scheme, however the F-16N were eventually mothballed. If the F-16 is like the Ferrari of the fighter world, then this were the hottest of them in terms of dynamic performance.

Gorgeous :) Did you tint the canopy? It looks great.

G'day Danyel,

yes I did. The kit comes with a clear canopy (complete with a mould seam down the middle!). After polishing this seam out, I made my own tint from food colour and Future. Tamiya smoke would also suffice but it lacks the yellow tinge that the real canopy has.

First-class build all the way 'round. And posing it in flight attitude always makes it more striking. Well done!

G'day Thorfinn,

Thanks very much, I like the inflight pose as it means I didn't need to spend too much time of detailing the cockpit and undercarriage bays. The u/c bays are mostly devoid of detail in this kit so it saved a lot of time. The kit u/c doors fit very well, which is not always the case with some kits.

Awesome! Never seen one in this scheme before and I have to say it looks the business!

G'day Synopsis, there were a few variations and there were also some two seater versions operated. There was also at least one marked in Marines livery. Sadly, the F-16N's were eventually mothballed. The USAF still operates F-16 Agressor units, but they are using F-16C variants

cheers,

Pappy

Beautiful, I'm a huge fan of Aggressor schemes and this is outstanding.

I always remember wanting this kit as a youngster as I loved the box art. I've now got one in the stash and this is great inspiration to get a few of my -16's back in work. I like the inflight pose too, gives it some oomph. I agree about the reduced workload going this road, I've done the same thing to get my "build count" up a bit recently!

Nice work indeed,

Rgds,

Eng
