AirfixAndy Posted May 31, 2015 Share Posted May 31, 2015 A very good HobbyBoss kit ......the 1/48 Northrop YF-23 the loser of the ATF competition for the USAF's next generation fighter. It may well have lost the competition ( F22 with thrust vectoring won the vote ) but I think it would have won on looks alone . Built straight from the box , no extras , a simple build with the paintwork being the most time consuming part of the build. Vallejo paints used throughout with a final Gloss Varnish / Chrome mix for that mettalic sheen that the latest Stealth aircraft wear. Thanks All Vallejo Model Air paints....Light Grey for the wing and tail edges , USA Grey for the main overall colour and then Dark Sea Grey for the patches on the wings and tails . The real thing used to be on display at the Western Museum of Flight at Hawthorne near LAX, dead impressive aircraft! The HobbyBoss kit is huge as well.
